got my first esee for Christmas... an izzy that was an instant close friend.

in all the time i've been lurking here i keep reading about getting bitten from the dumbest reasons while the knife isn't even being used and thinking how careless people are...

well, guess who's the idiot now.

i was just holding the knife (sheathed, with the sheath in one hand and the handle in the other) while having an in-depth discussion with my father-in-law and i guess i put a little too much pressure. the izzy popped free of the sheath and in my surprise and muscle reaction, my hands jerked back together sticking the knife in the crease between the first and second pad of my index finger. the cut was deep and fast, but probably just shy of needing stitches.

unfortunately, no pics... i wanted to, but i felt it was prudent to not draw unnecessary attention to my stupidity from my wife. i'm sure she'll notice the bandage on my finger sooner or later though. facepalm.

Yep, the tension in the sheath is a false sense of security. Too much pressure and POP she goes. In my case right down to the bone of my trigger finger requiring 4 stitches.

6 stitches here, and a numb pinky.

Nasty little bastards they are....especially the pink ones.

Izulas sure are blood thirsty little buggers. I've never read reports of more cuts by one single knife than the Izula.

9 stiches 2 fingers and one that has no feeling to the tip anymore. suckers cut to the bone fast and easy.

take it easy
cricket

Got my first bite last night across the tip of my thumb. Out of the way, thumb!

"The first rule of Bite Club is that it's OK to talk about Bite Club!" :D

Once bitten, twice shy.

I got bit like most, while wrappin' the handle, no stitches but a lesson well learned.:)

Haha tell me about it :o. My Izula got me good on the knuckle last Tuesday. 5 stitches and four hours in the E.R.. Straight to the bone, should be getting stitches out Thursday.

Mine got me first day I had it. Didn't need stitches, but was still a nasty cut across my thumb. My 3's gotten me as well, but not nearly as bad. I think pretty much everyone's been bitten by at least one of their ESEE's, and Izula bites seem to be the most common.

little beast....
i hope you can still move your finger...
it was another knife which bite very deep in my "little" finger of the right hand, cut through my tendon in there...
a surgery and weeks of medical gymnastic was required.
i also dont have pics, the pain was stronger than the will to take photos.
get well soon!
