My friend just got a Gigand for $50. It is a real nice piece, blade is strange though. Is it a good knife? What about cold forged steel? Is that real G-10? How do you keep the "HUBCAP" from loosening?

Any thought appreciated!

God's choices in inflicicting suffering are unsatisfactory to us, nor are they understandable, unless innocence offends him. Clearly he needs some help in directing the blind fury with which he flogs the earth...

I have a lot of information on Gigand at my web site www.gigandknives.com

The knife you have uses real G-10. According to Paul Wuu (owner of Gigand) the knives are all made 100% in house with all CNC work done wiht very tight toloerances. I agree. I have only had a few problems with them. Each comes with a special wrench thingamabob under the lining of the box. You can tighten the pivot system with that as they may come loose during shipping.

I think he means Cryo Quenched steel. That means the knife is quenched in a temperature of -320 degrees!

I like the Spectrums and Titans myself. The new ones in Carbon Fiber are KICK ASS! And for the money they aint a bad deal at all.

I mean, if I went around saying I was an Emperor because some
moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, people would put me away!

Yes Indeed.
Mike is right, I know the man, through a dear friend of mine in Taiwan.
The knives are cyrogenically quenched, and heat treated in house ( if I remember correctly )
GREAT knives for the money, and my taiwanese wife loves her Titan.
Hope this helps
