Okay guys, here's my dilemna. I have the chance to pick up a few of these:
http://www.luminousconcepts.com/Blades/G10Griffe.htm
These are apparently handmade by Fred Perrin, and are FULL G10 construction. They're brand new. No metallic signature whatsoever. The kydex sheathe is naturally included.
What are these actually worth? Right now I have options on an even dozen, but I have NO CLUE what these go for. If I'm getting a good deal on them, I'll release 10 of them to the Usual Suspects at my cost. But you guys have got to help me out. What are they worth?? Do I snatch these up? I've got to give this guy an answer by Saturday morning.
I have ONE currently in my possession, and it's...hmmm...very clandestine. It's lighter than my titanium LaGriffe, and actually quite sharp for being made of full G10. There are no proofmarks on this thing anywhere. It's sterile. I KNOW that this is authentic Fred Perrin though, because I've seen pix of two of these prior to now, and the one I have in my hand matches the pix perfectly. Besides, the guy I'm dealing with is a trusted friend whom I've dealt with often, but he's not sure what these are worth either. We're just trying to come up with a fair price for all involved. He took these on a very large trade, so it's tough to even tell how much he has in them. I'm keeping at least two of these no matter what. Very cool.

At bladeart.com they have them for $99. The name of the knife is the la griffe frequent flyer. Laci Szabo also has similar items. I'm not sure about the la griffe but he does have the jaws and the kerambit in the $50-$75 range.

Eric,

At the blade show last year I saw them. Can't remember whos' table. I think they went for around $75-$100. Not sure though.

Put me down for one. Thank you.

As I always say, the market sets the price...hmm...I might have to get into the G-10 business and make neat stuff. I could pay for the first few sheets and new Dremel Tool with the first three sales!

Hang in there fellas. I'm still trying to put this deal together, and it looks like it's gonna fly. The price is going to fall somewhere between $45-$55 each which is really good according to all of the helpful e-mail I've gotten from those of you who've read this thread. Thanks for the priceless advice, and I'll let you know as soon as I close this deal, hopefully tomorrow evening.

At that price range, please count me in for one as well. TIA.

Guys, I'm very excited about the events that have taken place today involving this deal. It was a major rollercoaster ride, but all is now more positive than ever. The original deal for a dozen G10 La Griffes fell apart and collapsed, which is good because so far I've heard from 40+ of you who are interested in these Perrin G10 La Griffes, so a dozen wouldn't have been nearly enough anyway. I had to find a way to get more than the original dozen, and I needed more of a direct source for the G10 LaGriffes. What could be more direct than going straight to Fredric Perrin? As we speak a substantial deal is being hammered out personally with Fred as an exclusive for Emerson Forum members. Two major players in the knife industry are very kindly helping me to work this deal, and their identities will be made known as soon as this deal is sealed. Both of these gentlemen and their respected businesses enjoy good reputations amongst BladeForums members. You will be able to verify through them that everything I'm telling you here about this Fred Perrin deal is true. One of these gentlemen is actually in France with Fred right now (see how unbelievable my luck has been today??). I've been assured that Fred is thrilled that so many of us Emerson fans are excited about obtaining his G10 La Griffes. I'm certain that once this deal is finalized, we can expect a top-notch batch of G10 La Griffes from Fred, at a price that can't be resisted, made especially for us. Delivery time should be less than three weeks for the entire batch. When it comes time to purchase, you guys won't be risking anything by dealing with me (who happens to be an unknown to a good many of you)because we're going to arrange that all purchases be made through an already established dealer that is well known amongst forum members. I'll bring you guys updates just as soon as I hear something more. Thanks. I'm having alot of fun helping to bring this whole thing together.

A little bit of luck and some great timing go a long way, not to mention the help of some good people. What a way to start the New Year! Happy New Year, Emerson Forumers!

Eric

P.S. Please keep in mind that with the weekend and New Years happening, we may not have final details on this deal until the early part of this coming week. Go here to learn more about Frederic Perrin.

He's quite interesting and has a very diverse background. This is his own website, or at least one of them. The graphics take a bit of time to load, but his site gives you some good insight and perspective about him. He also does alot of knife reviews and his writing style is very entertaining.

BTW, yesterday UPS brought me an Emerson 154CM LaGriffe, which I bought just in case anything ever happens to my titanium La Griffe. Two observances:
1. Scary scalpel sharp. Unbelievable.
2. Great kydex sheathe fit. Superb even.
I have a good many friends who have recently bought Emerson LaGriffes (due to me coercing them)and I've gotta say that the 3F's (fit, finish, and function) of the recent production runs have been exemplary. If you've been wanting an Emerson La Griffe, now looks like a very good time to buy one. Keep up the great work, Emerson staff!

Eric,
You haven't posting here too long but you've contributed alot already. You have the funniest stories even if it the one about Bear made my cringe a little. I never officially welcomed you to this forum so let me take this opportunity to do so. I thank you for your efforts & welcome you. Hope you can make it to the party

I have two Fred Perrin G10 neck knives that I would sell. One is a street razor and the other a tanto. I bought them from Fred in Paris two years ago. I paid about $75. I will take $75. and it includes the kydex sheath. contact me for scans. Sorry to post this here but, it fit in to the conversation.

By the way, Fred is really a great guy. He picked me up in Paris and took me to his workshop and met his family. He is an accomplished martial artist, instructor and an enthusiastic knife maker. He went out of the way to make my visit enjoyable. This guy know his business. Everyone need one of his knives in his collection. He makes his knives to be used.

Thanks for making that known, Bill. I'm beginning to find out what a great guy Fred is, and once this deal for the G10 La Griffes is sealed and everyone begins taking delivery, we're going to see what we can do about making the rest of his knives available to Emerson Forum members at very affordable prices.
I'm also in the process of designing a top-notch website for Fred, at no charge, in order for him to more effectively display his knives and philosophies. He is not aware of this yet, but I've already begun the basic layout. It's just my way of saying "thank you" to him for providing all of us with his G10 La Griffes at prices that can't be beat. His current site is hosted by Geocities and loads extremely slow as most Geocities sites do, so I feel compelled to offer him a site with some serious speed and reliability, without any pesky banner-ads.
Sometimes deals work, and sometimes they don't, and this deal with him is not yet sealed, but it's looking very promising at this point. Negotiations will resume right after New Years for the G10 La Griffes, and everyone involved seems quite eager to make this work, so let's all keep our fingers crossed.
To everyone who has gone so out of their way to welcome me here in the Emerson Forums, I'd just like to thank all of you very much. You're a great bunch of guys, and I look very forward to the time that I spend in here everyday.
I'm becoming a La Griffe fanatic. If you're an Emerson fan and haven't gotten around to buying an Emerson La Griffe yet, do yourselves a favor and get one. These just feel so right in the hand, and they feel even better hanging from a piece of paracord around your neck. Once you get an Emerson La Griffe, then you'll really be able to appreciate the feel of a Fred Perrin G10 La Griffe. To me, they each serve their own function. I use my Emerson La Griffes constantly for cutting open feedsacks and bales of hay, and even for decapitating an occassional rattlesnake
smile.gif
, but the Perrin G10 obviously isn't designed for such cutting chores since it's a synthetic laminate. The Perrin G10 La Griffe is first and foremost a clandestine last-ditch fighting tool designed for deep cover, especially when a non-metallic blade is required. When you hold one of these, it practically screams "Black-ops". Nifty little tool.
So get the Emerson La Griffe first and let it become a daily carry to back-up your SOCFK or Commander. But then by all means get yourself one of these G10's. They compliment each other extremely well, and when you have them both, you can't help but feel that you have all of the bases covered. Unless....you then suddenly feel the urge to get one of his Large 1095 Tanto La Griffes. And a Buffalo Horn Bowie La Griffe. And a La Griffe Key chain. And maybe a pair of 1095 La Griffe Sisters which are sold only in pairs. And.....
