Okay, so who here knows the difference between the custom La Griffe made by Fred Perrin, and the Emerson La Griffe? Other than price, of course. ;) The reason I ask is because, apparently, you can get a Perrin La Griffe G10 for around $70., not much more than what Emerson is asking. Has anyone handled or directly compared both? In addition, I'm also looking at the Busson Assault Shaker. Anyone care to compare this vs. the La Griffe styles? Let's say a comparison in real world, how is the knife usable terms, rather than the might-never-happen defense scenario, although that certainly can't be overlooked.

The Emerson La Griffe is made of ATS-34 IIRC. It would be a much better utility blade than one made of G-10, which is a synthetic material. A G-10 blade is made mostly for avoiding metal detectors or if you need one that will not rust. It is better than the Zytel knives in that G-10 can actually cut but it is more for cutting people and not as an everyday tool. I got my Emerson La Griffe at the One Stop Knife Shop for just under $50.00. As for the metal customs, my guess is that they would probably be better but I don't have one.

The Emerson one is 154cm.

The Emerson one is going to be stronger, sharper.
The G-10 can't rust, is lighter, and non-metal=??? whatever your reason for going non metal is.

I have both, like both, the Emerson is used more fequently, the G-10 is for those "special" occations.

Thanks guys. Didn't realize that G10 is not a metal. That explains what seemed to be a low price for a Perrin custom.
