Fred Perrin on the Street Bowie

I wish they would make one of these with G10 scales.

On another note...is it just me or does Fred Perrin look like Christopher Lloyd (the Back to the Future guy) after a 3 day bender?

Hey John, you could always buy Fred Perrin's version of the knife and make your own scales. His version uses Sandvik 12c27.

I ordered a pair of those, intending to attach micarta handles to them and use them, but immediately returned both.

The machining on the blade was horrible, you could run your nail along the side of the blade and it would make a "zzzzttttt" zipper sound because the machining marks are so deep.

It was also extremely small, the finger notch was almost unusable.

The kydex sheath was paper thin, and completely unuseable from being molded too tight on the blade.

I don't believe that Perrin's customs are anything like the stainless "blade blank", I believe he uses high carbon steel and a bigger everything for the real Perrin Bowie.

I agree with all of Mr. Perrin's comments about the reasons he doesn't care for guards on a knife. The index finger cutout will keep your hand from moving forward and it allows for indexing.

I always thought that a guard on a knife was a carry over from full length swords and was more of a detractor than a benifit.
