Free bread knife + free time = new knife

I found a bread knife at work today. It had thicker stock than most kitchen knives I see, so I brought it home. I had a burst of creativity at one point, and when it wore off I realized I had produced this:

I decided to turn the bread knife into a new big brother for my Pendleton.


I'm sure it won't hold an edge for long, since it's almost certainly some crap 440 stuff (it's marked Stainless China on the blade, so what else would it be?) but it certainly takes a nice edge. 2 minutes on my DMT stones and it was shaving my arm.

Nice job. Do you have pics of the original so we can get the full effect of the transformation?

I goofed and forgot to take before pics, but I believe it's an older version of the Mercer bread knife. It was the same length and shape, and has more or less the same plastic & rubber handle.
