I just stumbled across something excellent. A book which is a scholarly dissertation centered on Bainite, and everything having to do with it.

Thanks, Salem! Dave and I have decided that we will make knives of bainite next, so this is a very welcome link. Maybe not next, but in the near future. Howard Clark is only a few miles away, that's the source of our inspiration. I think I've got the concept down, I just need to get a way to keep the blade between Bs and Ms for a couple hours.

Geesh, I'm still trying to work my way through Professor John Verhoeven's book, Metallurgy of Steel for Bladesmiths & Others
Who Heat Treat and Forge Steel. Every few months I give it another shot. I always have to start at the beginning though, because I can't remember much.

Bhadeshia's work is great . However limited for blade work. His research is very important in automotive alloys making our cars far safer than they had been just a few years ago !
