Well my boss gave me a Thermo Scientific muffle furnace. I know it isn’t designed for knife making, but we ran it consistently at 950 degrees Celsius and it holds a good solid temperature, plus it’s free. Anyway, it has about an 8 inch chamber, so I figured it would be good for smaller knives. Plus it would allow me to experiment with steels that require more temperature control. As far as I know, the only thing it needs is the part pictured below. My coworker that worked on it says the part needs to be ceramic instead of plastic. They are having trouble getting them from the manufacturer. Do you guys know of another place I could check with for this part? I think it’s the terminal block.

Do you have picture where it is on furnace ?
Google ........... Electrical Ceramic Insulators
I sure don’t, this piece was already taken off. I was told that it held the wires going to the heating element apart but allowed electricity to flow through it if I remember correctly.

I mean on place where it sits on back side of furnace ? Maybe you don t must to use exactly that same part ....I don t see any screws on this one that s why picture would help ...is it just insulator through which pass Kanthal wire from HT elements or it is connector between Kanthal wire and cooper wire ?
