I have a CRK&T stiff kiss I'd like to give to a person under 18 years of age that sends an e-mail to tamrwilk&worldnet.att.net
and asks for it. No contest or other games just send an e-mail.
I will only ship it to your parent after getting some proof of age.
Such as scan of drivers license etc.
Lets make it go to the 5th e-mail that I get.
Good luck
Tom

Hey Tom it seems that your e-mail address you provided is not valid. I think it needs an @ in there somewhere? Oh and can i have the knife?

huh?

Since sales of knives to, or posession by, a minor is illegal in most states - you have in one motion committed a crime, made your gift receiver a criminal, and possibly caused life-threatening harm to another person. You have set yourself up for massive damages in contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and supplying weapons to an ineligible person.

Like it or not, dems the facts.

If I do a sale/trade sight unseen, I have plausible deniability if the knife is bought by a minor and/or used in a crime. Some dealers require a "over 18" disclaimer. You don't have a leg to stand on.

Huh RH?????

Boy, talk about getting the Holiday Blues...

Tom is Giving away a knife to a kid. There is no crime in that. In fact, it is a downright generous and good-hearted gesture.

Ownership of a knife by a kid is legal just about everywhere, it is carrying the knife around out of the home that MAY cause trouble. Tom made specific mention that he would only ship the knife to an ADULT parent. Are you seriously trying to imply that there is something Wrong about what Tom is doing?

Sheesh...

i will see if i can find the sheath/chain for it,the knife is sitting here on my desk unused.
if i can find the sheath, someone who needs it can have it.

Tom,

RW raises a valid concern. It's a minor one though. But, I would suggest that you get their parents at acknowledge that they are willing to accept the gift on behalf of the minor, and when you ship it, add an adult signature required tag to the package.

Many thanks, I agree with what you are doing and would hope that some day the political environment develops so these concerns go away.

Hey Tom i have just e-mailed you. If you want i can e-mail you 5 more times. Oh and everyone saw that i was the first to ATTEMPT to e-mail you as i posted as soon as i found the problem. Anyway. Checked and found out that the Stiff Kiss over here costs just a bit over $50:eek:

Oh and i know you havent chosen anyone yet Tom but i have asked my parents and they dont mind at all. So there will be no problems if YOU CHOOSE ME!!!:D :D :D Only joking. Who ever does win though congrats in advance.

I think RH was just trying to keep Tom from getting into trouble. It is unlikely to me that he was trying to be a Grinch. :)

Para, maybe I came on too strong, but yeah...there is something wrong. As a kid, did you ever intercept mail intended for your parents? Maybe not, but did you ever SEE what's in the mail before they did? School schedule being what it was, I always saw the mail before my parents. All I'm saying is you could be giving away a knife to the next Klebold, and you are risking personal liability.

A gift from a stranger over the internet is not the same as a Case stockman given by dear old Granddad, I think you'll agree.

Maybe it's personal bias - since my Stiff KISS bit me 5 stiches worth a few months ago. :)

YMMV

Geeeez i never thought such a nice gesture comes with so many problems. Cant you just write a small disclaimer saying "i am not liable for any harm caused by this knife blah blah blah" and make it so that a parent has to sign for it? Because i do hope that Tom does not have to withdraw his proposal:(

RH, maybe I came on too strong as well. There is a legitimate legal concern here. Proper identification of parental units is absolutely required in this case ;)

DB: only one entry per minor child is allowed. Two or more posts or emails to Tom will result in automatic and compulsory expulsion from the list of potential gift recepients. Just a word to the wise, sonny boy :)

Ya know, TomW is doing a really great thing here.
I myself am under 18, by a couple years, and while i am not going to take part in this (have too many expensive knives of my own, and want someone else to have a chance at this.) I think its a great thing.

There are legal concerns yes, but I have never known anyone my age to get in trouble for possesion of a simple knife (now an Auto or a Balisong, yeah, but not something simple).

Tom, you are gonna make somebodies christmas with this one :D Good on ya!

Hey guys
I only have 2 e-mails so far. It goes to the fifth person to ask.
take a shot
Tom

Phooey. By "Lets make it go to the 5th e-mail that I get" I thought you meant that the _contest_ would go to the 5th e-mail and you'd choose from those 5... rats.
