Hi all,
There seems to be a lot of interest in learning various techniques of navigation with a compass. I know there are an awful lot of free sources out there, but I thought it might be fun to write a small document on the subject for free distribution.
The idea would be to write a manual of, say, 50 to 100 pages length with basic and technical information, ranging from basic map reading to actual map making and special topics. Probably an important part would be a chapter/section on basic trigonometry, since that is a prerequisite for advanced work that I don't think is included in other books.
This document could include the input of anyone who cared to participate as well as the standard stuff. Authoring could be entirely myself, or others could write chapters, articles, etc. (credit would be given to contributors in any case). The end product would be a freely distributable (and possibly modifyable according to copyright) .pdf document.
Anyway, it just sounded fun to me - a good way to learn a lot from others and put many unique ideas and references in one place. I imagine it would be a long term project. I already have plenty of "irons in the fire," so this would never fly unless I had substantial help.
Yes? No? Any suggestions?
Scott
