Ah yes. Mel Tappin, the King of Doomer Porn in his era. He sold a boatload of HK's.

I wonder how unhappy he'd be to see that 25 years after he died his gloom-and-doom predictions did not come true. TEOTWAWKI - "the time of superor men."

And the site sucks.

Didn't see the rest of the site, just followed a link to this book and the foreword by Jerry Pournelle.

After Tom's post, I went back and checked the site and have decided to remove the link to it.

Some dumb stuff I didn't know was there.

Didn't seem like your style, sir.

Appreciate that, that's what I get for following a link and jumping on the words "on survival" without checking it out better.

The name Mel Tappan is familiar, but not sure from where?

Did he maybe write for some gun magazines in the 80's or 90's?

Mel wrote for gun mags. Good writer. At some point, he decided there would be a total breakdown of social order about 1980 or shortly thereafter and that every solid citizen needed a semi-automatic military-type rifle, plenty of ammo, and lots of other stuff to fight off the looting/starvingmobs. He like HK's in .7.65, IIRC. He would have made a fortune writing before Y2K. I think he wrote a book entitled "Survival Guns," but that could be senility talking to 'ya, not me. I'm fine.

What were you asking about?

he had a monthly col. in guns and ammo if i remember right. i think he had a sudden heart attack and died in 1980 or so.
