I work right next door to an upscale knife shop, and I am really good friends with the owner, manager and all the workers there. Time to time, I go by and shoot the breeze with them. Since the owner is very strict about what gets sold, meaning the product cannot have any flaws on them, he gets rid of knives with microscratches on them from handling and display models.
So I always get a free knife on an almost weekly basis. So far I've gotten a Victorinox knife case, Fisherman, Compact, Nylon solo, and a few classics. I would consider them to all be in near mint condition, just not good enough for him to sell.
I think next week he's giving me a Wustoff (spl?) kitchen knife set.
The owner is NUTS, but he just randomly gives away knives!
