This could maybe be a real boon to people like myself that can't take really acceptable pics fit for posting online. The announcement was in my daily Kim Komando Newsletter. I haven't really checked it out yet but aim to asap when I can stay online longer. If it's as good as I think it might be I know it will be a huge help for me, or at least I hope it can improve the quality of my pics.;) :cool: :D

Free Web Version of Photoshop Launches

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The maker of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop on Thursday launched a basic version available for free online.

San Jose, Calif.-based Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) says it hopes to boost its name recognition among a new generation of consumers who edit, store and share photos online.

While Photoshop is designed for trained professionals, Adobe says Photoshop Express, which it launched in a "beta" test version, is easier to learn. User comments will be taken into account for future upgrades.

Photoshop Express will be completely Web-based so consumers can use it with any type of computer, operating system and browser. And, once they register, users can get to their accounts from different computers.

Web-based software is increasingly popular, and Adobe knows it's got to get on that train, said Kathleen Maher, an analyst at Jon Peddie Research.

Many kinds of software are available for use online in a trend known as "software as a service," or "cloud computing." The earliest were e-mail programs, but they now include services to create and manage content and even whole operating systems. And they don't require time-consuming upgrades because they're maintained by the service provider.

If it's anything like their earlier attempts at "lightweight" photo-reprocessing software... I always found the full-power Photoshop far easier to use. :o

But with being used to Pagemaker and Indesign, I never could get the hang of the (to me) fiendishly complicated Microsoft Word either.
 
I'm with Ted. There are freeware photo editors out there that seem to have more functionality. The photo storage could come in handy.

I picked up Corel Paint Shop Pro X on the clearance rack a year or two ago for $10. I'd been using the freeware version of PSP 6 back when it was made by Jasc and just got used to it. Unfortunately, I'm still living in the shadow of the Photoshop world!
 
the photoshop site above's 'try it' option says i need flash 9 installed, which is already, so i can't. what can it do that i cannot do in fotoflexer (fotoflexer.com or thru photobucket's 'edit' function)? (i already have photoshop cs3)
