This is going to sound a lot like spam, but bear with me. It's all free, so I think that may rule out spam.

Saw this story on Yahoo, about recycling where people list stuff they'd like to get rid of on a Yahoo mailing list and others offer to take it off their hands. It's set up by localities, I joined this weekend and have already got rid of an old dog house that I didn't know what to do with. I'm just waiting for tomorrow to post my wants; "Wanted Wednesdays".

It's called FREEcycling because everything has to be free. One concern I had about posting on this forum, is that the list for the Kansas City area prohibits guns and... knives! Basically weapons or anything that could be illegal. I debated about posting this in G&G, but it's not about the gear as it is about the Yahoo lists.

If this is deemed Gear-y, please move; or if it's spam-my, please delete.

Sounds interesting. I'll let it stay. ;)

Up in Houghton Michigan there was a Radio station that did the same thing. The program is called Tradio. People call in an maybe they have an old sewing machine or kids hockey equipment, or free firewood... you get the idea. they give their phone number. I think it was on saturday or sunday morning.
