To Ken C: You have been very good to me in Gadgets and Gear. I do not understand the arbitrary locking of a thread asking a legitimate question. It could have been moved with an explanation. It is not like I am in here daily starting flame wars. I have seen many other posts that have turned into long and nasty debates with no respect. I thought there was a little freedom under the new parameters. . I sent several pms- no response. No one was given a chanch to help me.

Are you sure you should be emailing Ken C?

I see two locked threads of yours and they are under the political umbrella. Moderators are Ken Cox (not Ken C), Bronco, and Mycroft.

Moderator Bronco explained exactly what is required:

Hit and run posts where the OP puts little effort into the initial post is considered a form of trolling in this forum - even where no malice is intended. Asking questions about a particular political party is certainly acceptable here, but you first must take the time to explain to us how this question came to you, why you think it's important, and what your own research on the subject has revealed to you thus far.

I see no recent posts of yours in G/G that are locked so it must be the two above.

In essence you have plenty of freedom of speech, you are not guilty for practicing it, but are guilty for not exercising it enough. Follow his guidelines and you won't get locked.

They aren't picking on you; even long standing/posting members get locked if it isn't enough. :)

OK. I am a newbie for the most part in political forum. I only wanted info- not to participate in a debate. I don't have enough info yet to swim in shark infested waters. I guess I should have asked for info in another forum. I apologize for the trangression.

No apologies necessary. In fact, I apologize for not giving you a more detailed explanation than the one quoted above sooner, but I've been out of town the past two days and have only been able to keep tabs on the forum via my cell phone. With that in mind, don't think that you need to be an expert on any subject to participate in the Political Arena. Questions and requests for information are perfectly acceptable there. But, you must still put a bit of effort into your initial post. For example, you don't need to know a thing about the Libertarian Party to explain to us how the subject popped up on your personal radar screen and/or why it is you think that this is a subject that is worth knowing more about. No one is requiring that you engage in a protracted, heated debate, per se. Just give us a few short paragraphs of original and personal thoughts on the subject you're presenting.

The most disruptive form of trolling in the Political Arena has occurred when folks have started threads with short, seemingly innocuous questions about inherently divisive subjects. We refer to it as throwing red meat over the fence for the dogs to fight over. It's basically the equivalent of asking in the General Blade Discussion forum, "What's better, Busse or Strider?", or "Are Sebenzas really worth the money?". Some folks legitimately have these questions, but many more are just looking to get some crap started. To protect against this behavior in the PA, we require that OPs put something of themselves into their initial post. So please don't take the fact that your thread got locked personally. Thanks. :)

Yeah
Tell us why you are interested in the LP

I like their no drug and gun laws stance
I also like their view on privacy rights

I don't like their "close all foreign military bases " stance
And I don't agree with their fiscal and monetary policies

Here is a good place to start===>

Just as a followup, you have no first amendment rights on this site. It's private property.

If you have a problem with moderation, you need to discuss it here in Service & Support, but bear in mind, you've agreed to follow our rules.

;);)I agree private property. No problem with moderation. I made a mistake. I agree to abide by the rules.
