I finished this knife just before Blade (where some of you may have seen it). Chuck Ward did the photography. Damascus, cast bronze, and British Columbian nephrite jade are the materials. The damascus is essentially a twist with cuts randomly made along the edges, then reforged. I wanted it to be flowing and organic. All of the fittings were carved in wax and cast in bronze, then finished and given an antique patina. Jade is one of those materials that you just want to throw into your shop wall! It's just not that easy to work and is very time consuming. The sheath is rather complex. It has a cowhide core with more leather panels added and carved, then it was overlaid with molded calfskin. I carved the jade piece first, then formed the wax around it.

Comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Chuck did a great job with that photo. That was a real memomorable piece for me from Blade, even though it falls outside my primary collecting interest. Very appealing lines and some extremely skillful sculpting. You aimed for flowing and organic and hit the bullseye. Outstanding work.

David, that is a very impressive piece!

Yep, that one is one of those "Absolutely a Broadwell" knives - nothing but superlatives, David, just a wonderful piece.

There's only one word applicable here...

Wow! I had to go back and look at the pic a bunch of different times.

Would have liked an even bigger photo to look at the tiny details.

looks like you are right David. It was probably sold and I seldom handle knives that someone else already owns unless the owner is there. Sometimes when I re look at the photos, I wonder, why I did not look more carefully at the knives I took the photos of but time is just not there at such a large show. I get more time to do that at smaller shows though. I just have too much fun doing the photos.

Let's all have a better look:
