I have been fidgeting the hell out of this knife for about a week now .
I have fidgeted it so much my thumb has developed a callus .
The FT2103 is a fidget champion ! And mine has been fidgeted thousand of times now !
I have put years of opening and closing on this knife .
Knife was sourced from the FT website .
What is there not to like :
A) The thumb studs are flush with the grip panels and there is no relief cut into the grips for the thumb !
B) The grip panels were sharp and pointy .. The entire knife was a hot spot and irritated the hand . I had to roll all the edges to soften the knife in the hand . After doing this the knife has no more hot spots and is very comfortable to hold / fidget !
What is there to like about the knife :
A) Definitely the price
B) The action rocks my world
C) The looks are subtle , but to my liking
D) Edge holding ....
It's another putrid HUMID day here in Melbourne ... Just how long am I supposed to wait to test a knife ? ( Decent weather / humidity ) So it's very unfortunate I had to slice paper off camera ( inside the house ) . Butt & it's a huge Butt ! The FT2103 surprised the heck out of me ! We are talking about a 500 slice fail on the factory edge . ( That's Crazy - Gooooood )
I stropped the edge back , and it took more effort than usual . ( Good D2 maybe )
Anyways , that flat grind just rocks ... This knife is a slicer ... The blade is relatively thin for a knife this size and has good depth to the belly helping to make for a thin edge . So did the blade geometry help ? Quite possibly , but it does not take away the achievement of a 500 slice fail on a factory edge .
The knife gets a full stereo thumbs up from me ! Excellent edge holding and the fidget level is off the scale !
Yes , a couple of things I did not care for ... Thumb Studs / and the sharp grip panels .. But these are things that are easily fixed !
And I will cut a grove in the grips for my thumb ASAP , since this test / review is done and dusted now .
