Hi Everyone,

I am looking at buying a grinder from the USA(Wilmont tag-100) which includes shipping in America.

Does anyone know of a company that does fright fowarding at a reasonable cost and is reliable. Basically what I want to do is buy the grinder and have it sent to the fowarding company, then they can get it shipped to me.

If anyone can recommend me someone or knows a company, your help would be greatly appreciated.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks

Matt

Hey Matt,

My "other life" outside of making a few knives here and there is in distribution and freight logistics so I may be able to help with your question. Shipping commodities into Australia can be a little tricky depending on what it is. I personally haven't shipped anything into Australia but from what I remember, machinery isn't one of the tough ones. Besides, the freight company or freight forwarder will be the ones with all of the expertise. One forwarder that I have used a lot, is very economical by comparison and gives it a very personal touch is AFC Worldwide. They do international freight in addition to domestic, so I'm betting they can help you out from vendor to your door. My local contact is Matt France and his cell number is (801)598-9586. Tell him Rick Baum sent you... He'll probably say nice things about me... That's how nice of a guy he is :D The website for AFC is: www.afcexpress.com if you want to take a look at it.

One thing to watch out for in regards to cost of shipment is to have your supplier use a standard (in the US) pallet or smaller. A standard pallet is 48" X 40". The reason I say this is that I bought a used grinder and it was shipped to me on a larger than standard pallet and it cost me $146.00 instead of the quoted $75.00.

Don't hesitate to ask any other questions as they come up.

Good luck,
Rick
