About ten years ago, while in a shop in Gettysburg, PA, I fell in love with this old saber and scabbard, and after a little negotiation, brought it home for $400. It's in good condition, with the original scabbard (a nice brown patina), and almost all of the leather and wire wrap still present on the handle. Anyway, it's been sitting in a corner of the den, and after the 1000th time I have been asked about it by a friend or family member, I decided it's time to do some research. It has the three bar brass hilt found on US Civil War pieces. It is hand engraved as to the maker, but I can't ID it... Unfortunately, the sword is too big for my scanner. Ugghh, I need a digital camera! Anyway, can anyone point me towards helpful references? Thanks!
