Hello there fellows. I dont know if this is the right are to post this or not, so mods move it if need be.

I am looking to purchase or commission the making of a Tomahawk and Knife set that would be period correct for the French and Indian War era. I would like to hear from makers or any leads you guys could provide.

Thanks

Well I can help you on the hawk.. The french and indian war ran from around 1754 to 1764 ish'..The hawks from that are are mostly spike hawks or trade axes..The spike hawks from that era are longer more slender weapons that the spike hawks made by modern smiths..Longer, narrower blade and long spike..Pretty much always had "ears" and were of welded construction..Sometimes a hot punched eye but it seems more often than not they were constructed by welding two long pieces together around a mandrel to form the eye. Then a steel bit between the cheeks.
The french trade axe was constructed using the "war&weld" method. Wrapping on piece of iron around a mandrel to form the eye and welding it up with a steel bit..
Pipe hawks were not as common in this era as they were in the next century. They were also normally made with a wrap&weld construction and either a threaded in or brazed on bowl..
.
Now they knife, Id suggest you get ahold on this fellow..
