If anyone is interested in learning more about French axes during the French period in North America, three articles were recently published in a magazine called Journal of the Early Americas. Here is a preview of all three articles.

Hi Lecour,

This past Saturday (August 10th. 2013) I had the pleasure of being in the company of Kenny Hamilton at "Bristol Days" encampment http://www.downeast.com/maine-event/olde-bristol-encampment
Mr. Hamilton is an outstanding Historian (and of course noted Blacksmith). I even did a bit of "Horse Trading" with Mr. Hamilton and will (before too long) receive one of Mr. Hamilton's period reproduction Trade knives! I'm soooo excited! In addition, I was also very honored to be in the company of Mr. Jeff Miller (noted Historian and Blacksmith) who also attended the encampment at http://www.friendsofcolonialpemaquid.org/PNewFort.html It was a BEAUTIFUL day at Pemaquid and I enjoyed learning about History from both Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Miller (and others).
Thanks for posting the above article.

Regards,

HARDBALL
