I visited my first blade show yesterday, in Gembloux (Belgium), featuring knife makers from Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Hungary, Russia, Sweden, ...

I had a plan: i wasn't going to buy anything, just look and learn. I had two reasons for this: i haven't got the budget right now to buy fancy customs (and i don't want to get the knife accumulating virus) and i like the whole downsizing and keeping it simple philosophy.

I must admit i failed... I haven't bought my absolute favourite (a magnificent $1200 hobo knife!), but i did buy a very nice - and a lot more affordable - french friction folder by Mathieu Callejon, with buffalo horn handle and carbon steel "brut de forge" blade:

The pictures aren't that good, it looks a lot better than that!)

I like that a lot! Definitely would have caught my eye. I like his style with no need for a stop pin. Whatever works.....that certainly should. :thumbup:

I`ve been at his table and almost bought one of his frictions but I could resist! :grumpy::D

Very nice folder, btw! Congrats!! :thumbup:

When I walked around and passed by the table of another (german) maker I couldn`t resist anymore, though! ;):D

Thanks guys! I "skinned" my first apple with it today, and it's already starting to develop a nice patina :thumbup:

@Wolfgang: which maker was that?

The guy at the right, Reiner Grösche

Of course i've seen his table. Top class knife making! But personally i would like his folders even more without a thumbstud.
