And I won't hold it against her that she owned a Brothel or two... she is welcome to kick her feet up (or her foot) in my home ;-) Very good f&f... no complaints whatsoever! :-)

They really aren't popular here. But I quite like them and wouldn't mind having one myself, I just find the price prohibitive at the moment. How does it feel in the hand? Any hot spots from the heel?

Thanks for the comments, guys :-) The knife feels good in my hand, I think the widening towards the top bolster making the difference. It is a smallish knife. Even though one sees the specs given online, it is a tad bit smaller than I imagined. Neat knife... and everthing was done nicely on it, for sure :-)

Very nice!

I am a fan of the "French Kate" regardless of it's lack of popularity with the cool kids here.

Nice - ebony is very "high class" in this application. Congrats. Based on a previous thread the GEC French Kate has one of the thinnest profiles so it should prove to be an excellent slicer. This one is on my short list but every time I get ready to buy it somebody puts a GEC #66 up for sale and back down the list it goes! :D

It's a Special Award, for sure.

Can you open a beer with it? If so, I may have to get one.
My buying it as a collectible, will prevent me from trying it on a bottle of beer. But, I have heard it will do the job, though maybe needing a couple attempts. The soft steel bottle caps would surely wreck havoc on the german silver bolsters (they just being another form of brass). So, I don't know if spending $75 on one and buggering it up with beer caps would be acceptable to you, but if it is, why not :-)

Although they are GEC quality with built in bottle opener I can not warm to them.

Weird how sometimes I've said to myself, or to others, that something just ain't for me... and then somehow it becomes something I get. I remember a new car dealership once offering me to consider an orange colored car (he called it manderin red). I laughed and told him I can't be seen driving a pumpkin! Well, as I looked at other cars, I kept glancing at the pumpkin, which somehow called out for me to pick it.... which I did! I also remember looking at Ruger Mini 14's and thinking never will I own one. They are far from perfect, but I do own one now, it just grew on me. Same thing happened with the French Kate.... I first took a look at them online and said to myself.... "No way!"... but here I am an owner of a French Kate! Just weird how things go sometimes ;-)
Btw, no regrets on the car, it served me well, and the color really was okay in my eyes. The mini 14 is something I am glad I added to my line up, and I like that I included French Kate to my knife collection... she adds a unique flair... so no regrets all the way around :-)
