french polish

have any of you used a french polish on handles for a show knife? if so how do you make "rubber"?

I haven't used it for a handle finish, but it might be a show stopper with a nice piece of wood. I doubt that it would be durable enough for real use. A rubber is made of a ball of tightly gathered soft cheese cloth or other cotton fabric with a cover of fine cloth pulled over it and tied off with a string. Just a cloth dauber really. French polish used be the deluxe treatment for small wood items, jewelry boxes etc.

thanks , i'm sure it would be a show stopper, but i know it's not durable, also thanks for telling me how to make a rubber.
