If you have one, how do you like it? Specifically, ergos? Does the opening arc work for your hand? Any lock issues?
I want one and like my Recon and Talwars, but this is a whole nuther size up. And I have small hands. I'm not worried about the OAL, but whether my thumb wiil be able to open the thing.
thanks

On my short list(hoping for a good sale like I just found on the Holdout I). Only handled one but it convinced me to put it on the list. There was a thread a while back talking about the not so good sharpening from CS, not a problem if you can inspect the knife or buy from reputable dealers. My hands are not small but I have arthritis and the example I tried was compatible with that. No cutlery shops around to try one?

No shops anywhere close, so I do online, preferably stores with a good return policy. Thanks for the input and hope to see more! btw, I also have an SR1 and 4max, which are great knives but I usually have to use two hands to open either one. The SR1 I can start with my thumb and finish with a wrist snap, but the 4max is 2 hands. Spydercos of any size I don't have this problem (and axis lock BMs are easy). I can do a Recon ok and the Talwar has those plates. Just wanted to gauge what I would be getting into with a Frenzy.

I see complaints about the Tri Ad being difficult but they seem to work in over time usually. I have had good luck with CS Warranty work and OP for the most part do too. I have 2 new Tri Ads coming that I am going to experiment on if they prove difficult for me to operate. My last one I gave to my son to work in for me but alas he moved away. My first love though is fixed blades luckily, love that Steel Tiger VG-1 Japan I recently acquired.

Fits my medium hand well and I can operate one-handed without difficulty. That said, it is both stiff to open and mine has a somewhat sticky lockbar.

I have large hands which, ironically, make the Frenzy not a particularly good fit. It has a thin profile that makes me either curl my knuckles further out to get my finger pads squarely on the scale or nestle so deep that my fingertips are touching my palm. It doesn't make it less secure, it just seems odd to have to do a small knife grip with that much blade and handle sticking out of either side of my hand. Otherwise, the ergos are good and I don't regret buying or using it. I don't think the opening arc is appreciably larger compared to a non-XL blade, so I don't think it would be an issue. Given the mass and length of the blade, all you have to do is clear the first bit of the detente and a wrist flick sends it out with a tremendous SNAP. I bought mine off the exchange, so I don't really know if the first owner did any break in on the lock or did much cutting. It looked untouched, but I can say that the sharpness wasn't great and the lock was no problem. The long, straight blade is easy to strop (haven't sharpened it yet) so that wasn't an issue. I never met a Triad lock I couldn't work, I suspect the super sticky ones are QC issue more than anything so you could get lucky. If you can find a good deal, snag one.

I’m interested in picking up a Frenzy but would like to hear others’ opinions on the blade. The weight and size is a big draw, worried about ergos.

I've found the Frenzy's ergonomics and sharpness excellent. My model had a sticky lock initially (first such Tri-Ad issue I've experienced), though it broke in through repeated use and has given me no problems since.

dogrunner, originally I would have told you that the Frenzy's ergonomics shouldn't be a problem for you. But since you said you have trouble with the SR1, I'm not sure whether that will be true. I find their opening actions to be similar. I still think you'll be impressed by the Frenzy, but I recommend buying from a retailer with a solid return policy, just in case.

Good advice! SR1 is a two hand opener for me, or a slow and deliberate one hand opener (not a reflexive one hand opener at least).
