Received my very first Kershaw (Knockout) today in a trade. I'm really loving this knife! Don't know why a Kershaw was not in my collection until now, but this one sure wont be the last!

Yes, the Knockout is my favorite Kershaw so far, hands down. It's slim, smooth, and really tough. The finish is amazing, the blade shape is just choice, and for the price I really couldn't ask for more. It beat out every other Kershaw for my EDC spot, which means it tops my 30 or so pieces. :D

Glad you enjoy it.

The Knockout is of course a knockout..to me it fits perfectly inbetween my 2 fav knifes..the blur and the ZT0350... Its a great size and light weight and sharp as hell!

I really love the design. I think I once called it a "Blur killer". With the change to aluminum handles you have a lot of options as far as finishes and I hope it becomes available in all of the steel and color options that started me collecting the Blur. The Knockout is what I would have designed as an update to the Blur. Slightly larger, give it a flipper, stepped volcano thumbstuds, and something other than a linerlock.

Some people preferred the G10. I'm really happy this went back to aluminum. I'm a big fan of the Cyclone and the Knockout gives me a similar style with a bit more comfortable handle. I don't find the handle too slippery. When wet it might be a bit slippery, but the shape alleviates some of that issue where as in designs like the Leek the design doesn't have as much natural grip in the shape of the handle.

CONS: Nothing really. I love it. And now, off topic because I want to rant on this issue: The only unrelated sort of Con is that I wish the Diskin Hunter had this same profile and grind! I think the plunge looks nicer arced rather than a perfectly straight plunge line. I suppose for field use though the straight plunge is easier to sharpen on a field stone and gives you a full grind profile all the way to the ricasso when you're burying your knife in to a carcass rather than some portion being full blade thickness where on a blade like this the thumbstuds need that thickness and don't allow you to use that portion of the blade anyway. The difference there is also viewable in the plunge lines on the Skyline and Skyline fixed blades which share the change to a straight plunge in the fixed blade. I would have loved it though if the Diskin Hunter had kept more of the style of the original Coronado folder http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/636144-Volcan-Coronado even if it isn't as usable.. because it looks so much better and only gives up a tiny bit on the usability side. For the intended market, the change was probably a smart decision on KAI's part.. but one that I still lament.

This has to be one of the sharpest knives straight out the box I've ever received. It's my first flipper, and I'm really liking that. The weight is amazing, and minimal pocket room needed because its so thin. First aluminum handle knife for me also. I'm really amazed I have not stepped into the Kershaw world until today.

My step mother received a SIG P238 for her bday in that rainbow Ti look, and I'm going to hook her up with the matching Leek, they look pretty neat together.

Well now I might have to add one of these to the pile. Dont know if it could kick the ZT0301 out of the pocket though...

I think I'll have grandkids by the time I own a 0301. I want one so bad but they're so darn expensive :(

Anybody mind posting a pic or two? I see they seem to be sold out a few places I have looked, or they are marked as pre-order. I like the idea of a lighter Kershaw frame lock and always dug the Blur's aluminum scales. This knife looks right.

Sure. You can find them on a certain massive online retailer that starts with an "A", however the price went up by a few dollars over the last few days.

Here's my "EDC," and some comparison pictures I just took:

Glad to see you are liking your new steel.
I hope the knockout does not turn into a gateway drug for the rest of the kershaw/ZT line. But - looks like it may be too late!

Really agree!

I've said since the first time I held the Knockout that in my opinion Kershaw has set things in motion for it to be one of the most collected knives they will ever produce. Between handle colors and steel types, I don't see how they wouldn't be able to sell out of any sprint run of this knife they decide to produce! I bought two of this "first" model just for that purpose. One for use, one to collect. :D

^Likewise. I'm glad that I'm around at the inception of this, as it's quite the exciting thing to be collecting the first of what could become the next Leek/Blur. Have I said yet that I love this knife?
