I don't see why you couldn't use it for knives. Unless, the handling of the knife would cause it to come off:rolleyes:
 
My thinking exactly....ask yourself why CRK uses inlays as opposed to overlays?????

Okay, you could just stick on a knife, and it wouldn't work too well.
But wouldn't it be great to replace kraton inlayed handles?
And yeah, you'd almost certainly have to use a bit of glue.

The difference is inside the fret it is not subject to a lot of direct handling. I would be afraid that in the handle of a knife the pattern on the stick on would wear off.
 
I think it could work in some cases, but It might be prone to coming off if the knife is used much. I guess it really depends on the adhesive used. I have some old guitars were the first few frets are almost rubbed raw from my fingers on them, if it could stand up to that it would probably be ok on a knife. I think it would look nice on a metal slab handled folder. Someone should give it a try and report back as to how it holds up.
