I have struggled with bowdrill in the past. I have done it, but I am still working on a "method" that works for me, consistently. I am pretty proficient with hand-drill, but have trouble with my bowdrill "form". It is hard for someone to give me advise on my 'form' if they have never seen the way I have to do it.
I cannot brace my arm like other folks do, here is what works for me. This is the first (and second) bowdrill coals that I have filmed.

I know what you mean. The way they do things here is different than a lot of other forums.

Awesome stuff Josh ! I have yet to do that but want to get good at it. I have seen where some put a small thin piece of wood or even a leaf under where the coals end up, so they can transfer it to their tinder, but i am sure you have seen that as well. There is a good video on Hedge hog Leather Works website on this very subject.
