I'm making a friction folder, and i'm about to order the pivot pin and stop pins but i'm not exactly sure how they work. i'm mainly worried that the pivot pin will be to long etc etc? when you buy the pivot and it gets in, are they made so you can cut them to the correct length? i'm just super confused, and this being my first folder i have no idea what to do. ill post some pics for you guys any hopefully you can reassure me or explain how they work, i really don't want to screw this up.

( I haven't drilled the hole for the pivot yet for a few reasons, the main one being i want to be exact on the size i get etc etc. Also the blade is a bit rough, it still needs to be sent off for heat treat and i cant do that until i figure out the pivot. when finished though it should have a stonewashed finish, and the steel is D2 with coyote brown rough texture G10)

Yes, most are able to be shortened to an exact fit.

I recommend using one with a threaded barrel and two end screws. Drill or mill a slight seat for the barrel on both inside scales, and seats for the screws on the outside. Shorten the barrel gradually ( by thousandths) until the blade ( with the washers in place) is a good fit when the screws are tightened. If you overshoot, use thinner washers. A tiny drop of lock-tite will keep the screws snug.
