Friction folders?

Friction folders appeal to my appreciation of simplicity, though I have yet to own one unless the inexpensive Opinels qualify. I've read a brief mention of an all steel friction folder that John Greco made, but I have not seen any photos or measurements of it. Does anyone have photos of John Greco's (or anybody else's) friction folders that you could post here? Measurements and prices would be helpful, too. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Here's a couple of mine. They are pretty much all out efforts, but I can do most anything you may want. The first is damascus blade and bolsters, mammoth ivory scales, and if memory serves me was 7 1/4 OAL open, list was 775.00. Second is steel liners, pins and backspacer, weathered oak scales, wrought iron bolsters, and antiqued saw steel blade,OAL open was 6 1/4, list was 600.00. Both have sheaths of rawhide oer veg-tan w/ deerskin fringe. Prices for something plainer and simpler would be much less.

JMC---Very nice FF's!! Thanks for the pics. I've asked Gene Ingram to make me a FF with Micarta and his D2. I hope he does it.

Thanks, John. Your photos and descriptions gave me a much better idea of what friction folders are all about. I regret to say they far exceed my meager budget for such things, but I really do appreciate the info and I admire your craftsmanship. Thanks again. Anybody else got any friction folder pics you can post?

Thanks for the comments guys! Dr.Mudd, your quite welcome, and glad I was able to help you. Yeah, I know the folders I posted are a litlle spendy, can't even afford on myself, but that is at the higher end of the scale.I don't know exactly what your looking for, but I'm sure someone can make something to fit your budget, and if you ever do need one on the higher end side, give me a shout!!!!
