I've got to work Sat and Sun , just half days but thats okay. I need the money.

It's finally cooling off enough to feel like forging. Cant wait to get some new stuff done.

I actually wish I could get some overtime, Mark. It would give me an excuse to do something on the weekends besides rebuilding my house. I'm hoping to get three windows installed tomorrow, and maybe get out for a little fishing on Sunday. No knifemaking for me until the house is done, and I think I'm looking at October timeframe. :grumpy:

I'm with Jeff, just not as deep. I have to paint and do some odds and ends on the house. It's at that age that there is always something. I'm dickering on a farm now to use as retirement (Playground) property.

Sunday my wife and I are taking the canoe to a fossil bank on one of the rivers nearby. The dealers have been getting megladon teeth out of it on a regular basis.

Hey Don ,

I am a big fossil nut. Well a nut anyway. Some weekend I would love to go fossil hunting with you. I'll show you my fossil honey hole in Surry county sometime if you want. Lot's of vertabrae and rib. Crapload of Jeffersonous Colosus (sp)

Sounds good Mark. I have another one on the James where the Chickahominy intersects. That's not only closer to you, it's a very good dig.

Mark -- it's actually "cooling off" where you live? It's just getting into the full swing of heat here in south Missouri. 95 degrees and you can taste the humidity. :grumpy:

Tonight I'll probably jack around a little in the garage. I cracked *another* blade last night (no water either). It wouldn't bother me as much if I was experimenting, but this one is for a customer and it's the second one I've built for him that's cracked. Third time's a charm!! :)

Tomorrow I get up early to be at my parents house to help frame up a new shop. Gonna be a lonnnnng hoooootttt day.

I hope everyone has safe weekends -- good luck with fossil-hunting.

Think I'm finally going to get a chance to try out that drift. Now if I could only find where I put that other hand???

Tie it to your neck, and go take a long walk off a short pier? :D
You are forgetting whose house you are coming to on Aug. 2. I have enough chain to wrap you in and roll you down the hill to bay. :p  :D You probably get Harpooned because they would think it was Moby Dick coming back to life. :D

It's not fun to do Larry but if you have the right set of tongs, You can hold them between your legs and use one hand on the drift and strike.

I usually grab a neighbor.

Mess around with anchor chain. Got to do something with it. :D

IG, besides messing with the chain, are you going on any adventures?
I'll be over early, if I don't forget my helmet  . I've got to do something with that billet that I trashed out a couple of weeks ago, I'm thinkin' (Oxymoron), take those pieces that seperated while we were twisting and just keep them for attachments, and Like you said that day we broke in the pipe threader, take the piece that twisted successfully and do some more forging on it.

Good luck finding them pieces if you left them here. I not sure if I want you even close to my new forge.
The only reason you didn't break or burn anything last weekend, cause I wasn't home. I could tell you where here last weekend not only by the beer bottle, but also from the oil spot on my sidewalk. :p

I got off to a good start...

Lunch with Tom Krein of Krein Knives!

Wa...Wa...Wally, that's what us Harley drivers leave behind, empty beer bottles, and our bikes always mark their spot.

Oh!! You p'd on the side of the house too.

I've got 7 knives that I haven't started on that already have homes when their done. My job changed from 5 8hr. days to 3 12hrs. so It's just in time. So in other words I'm gonna be busy. Hopefully it will cool down this weekend.

Working on my first folder (and my first damascus blade, even
if it is with someone else's steel). Rough ground now, got to
get all the pre heat treat finishing and file work done Saturday
since Sunday is Mothers Day with my in-laws.

If I have any time left there's always the handle, with two liners
and a double back bar to fine sand and filework...

Looking forward to it,

Dan Pierson
