My Father is coming up from S.C for a visit. He like to eat so we'll do a bunch of that. Might get him to help me get a big sawblade cut up into strips. Need to be working on my hammer or press. Whatever it turns out to be. What you fellers doin ?

Finishing a coffin handle Bowie with Giraffe leg handles...Gawd, why didn't someone tell me giraffe leg bone was so dang hard. Also fitting and soldering some nickle silver handguards...fun fun fun.

I was born in SC, and our family farm is in the mountains up there...what part is your dad from?

Take it easy and have a great weekend.

MUAHAHAHA!

I'm working on something pretty cool. I'd like to tell you, but I'm sworn to secrecy.

*rubs hands together and slithers back into the shop*

:D

Hey Hank,

He's coming up from Anderson.

Going to do some relaxing tonight. Tomorrow my fiance and I are heading to Branson to spend some time with her parents. Sunday is going to be spent getting some well-needed time in the shop finishing some work.

Have a good one everyone!

Hey mark.....I worked on the graphics for a mueum in Anderson Co. Pretty dull stuff like the electrical power history and local development type crap.

Maybey he knows of it. The outside of it has all these rainbow flags (go figure?)

Anyway.......

I ordered a KMG grinder today ;)

Got the flat platen, with the small wheel attachment.......man I am excited!!!

I've got 6 billets stacked up and arc welded, handles and all. Hope to enjoy a Sat morning for forging. Other than that I'm still trying to recooperate from the Gila Monster thing.
Jeff, if you have a choice between One, coming to Uvalde, Texas during January of 05, and Two, going with your wife to the Grand Caymans, then it's settled. I'm going with you to the GC! You've got us all a little worried however with comments like: *rubs hands together and slithers back into the shop*. What's going on in that room? Should we be concerned? Have you been drinking your metamucial?

So far it looks like GC in February, Robert. I'm trying to see when I can get some more time off. Unfortunately, this company I work for is very tight with their vacation policy. I'm going to negotiate for another week of vacation. If that don't work, then I might be a full-time knifemaker sooner than I originally thought.

Well my family is leaving for several days on Sunday morning so I will be spending some time with them on Saturday. That leaves Sunday wide open however! I think I will try and forge out a few small blades to work on in my spare time. I also just recently covered the bottom of my forge with a hot face refractory, Ruby AMC, to protect it from flux, so I will see how that holds up to a little welding work. I also just got a box of new forge insulation delivered yesterday so I may work on forges a bit also. Too many projects for one day! Perhaps I should try and limit them.... :p

Hmmm... there's also a new King Arthur flick starting with Keira Knightley...

I am on a 4 day weekend. Paid my truck off today, and trimmed some heavily laden apricot limbs off my roof. Ol' Abe, my sheath maker and cohort, is coming to visit this morning. Shop time Sunday and this eve. Tomorrow we go to the monthly 3 day huge outdoor dog/gun/flea market near Rutledge, MO., about 1 1/2 hrs. away. The guns and dogs are back in the woods,on a big hillside. There are a few knives there, mostly junk knives. I usually run into some old buddies there, and some old outlaws. They are one and the same, my wife says. You folks have a good and safe weekend. IG, no messing with the skunks, either. Road rocket tossing, OK. Just keep them out of your forge fire, you may mistake them for roasted weenies.

i've got a little keychain pig sticker to finish off..... then its off to run the friday errands..... i save them all for the day off. drop by IG's sometime today and see how his work is coming on those new knives. have a good weekend everyone

My best friend, who is a great knifemaker, lives in Anderson, as did my knifemaking mentor! Our family farm, whats left of it, is nearby....Lake Keowee...covered up 550 acres of our farm though, and left us 80. Good to hear from you...take it easy!

Getting back to the grinder.....

Well, on Monday (part of my week-end) it's time for my annual training day with Michael Vagnino!!!!!!!

I bought full class day with him last year as a birthday present to myself. It was so full of information, I'm doing it again this year.

We're going to do a little forging. Then clay quenching and hamon basics.

Life is good (even when you have to turn 45).

Steve

A little golf and a little fishing Saturday. Sunday, I have two newbie knifemakers coming over for the afternoon for a couple lessons on knife making.

HEHEHE!!!! I bet a skunk would taste better them those TREE RATS. Just add a little HT relish. :barf: :barf: :D
Jay Mc. is coming over tomorrow and going to Home Depot to pickup black pipe to make a burner for the forge I am giving him. I am building a larger welding forge and going to make up a tutorial on how to do it.

Finished tempering my blade #24; and a nice suprise - a novice knife maker and a shooting friend of his from Alabama came into town and visited with me for about an hour or more and hand carried his very first blade grind for me to HT. Just finished making a pizza. Getting ready to start profiling knife #25. Waiting on some emails. Almost time to get another beer.

OOOOOOOHHHHH.....So that's where you went. I left the house and probably would have missed you anyway, but I got to 195 in Prov. realized I had no helmet,  very MAD, went home, got said helmet, back to New Beje, stopped picked up some beer :D (you'll see an empty on your grill), got to your house, nobody there, rode back home and wrote this.

See ya next time, sorry I missed all the fun.

Going to Groton tonight to see one of those Grucci Brothers firework displays from the EB parking lot with some friends, so you know that exotic ale that I bought will not go to waste, as a matter a fact, I'll certainly need to stop and pick up some more :D :D
