Weekend is wide open for me to get in a lot of shoptime finally.

It's cooled of nicely and the forge will be roaring.

What ya'll doin?

Cool weather here today also, Mark. That means forge time for me. I will be making damascus guards for these 1095 drop points I forged this week. Hope to spend a little time in the woods also. A beautiful time of year here in appalachia. Have a good weekend guys, Fred

I've got a table at a gun and knife show in Albuquerque at the state fairgrounds this weekend. It's about as big as it gets here in the Land of Enchantment. Anyone in the area, come by and see me.

Good luck at the show Steve --

Tonight I'll be going to a "Beast Feast" at a friend of mine's. Frog legs, elk, duck, dove, etc. -- and plenty of beer. ;)

Rest of the time is going to be spent doing some forging and some other shop work. :)

I have a full week of shop time coming. My GF is working 8 hours extra every day between now and next friday, which gives me all the free time I want in the shop. I plan to:

Finish a 1084 fixed blade, with the most challenging bolsters yet....I am cutting a bolster that flows down the spine of the handle, widening into a rear bolster, all one piece....going to take huge patience to match the scale curves....the Hamon looks amazing so far, and Im excited to see how it comes out.

Once that is done, I have an order comign with all the components I need to make my first sole authorship folder. I am very excited for this, and anticipating a lot of frustration with tapping titanium, the precision drilling, etc etc.

Lastly, i need to really get working on the "scrap" KITH going on over at primalfires and TKN. Nov 15th is the deadline, and I have lots of work to do!

Banking and shopping with my better half this morning, and then do some work in my shop. I have some more lights to hang in my shop and organize shop # 2 that has my wood lathe buried under some stuff. I scored good on the old 48" bed Delta a few years ago, $100 ! It runs like a sewing machine. It was one I used in wood shop back in high school, over 40 years ago. It still has the weird green paint job on it and "LATHE" stenciled on it! I ran into the son of my old wood shop teacher at a yard sale and was telling him I was looking for a better lathe. The son at the time was a retired wood shop teacher from the same school. Anyhow, I followed him home and he showed me the lathe. Was I surprised! When I asked him how much, he said $100. I couldn't get the 100 dollar bill out of my wallet fast enough. He even threw in a set of old gouges, good ones. Any better of a deal, and he would have paid me to take it, I think. I had the other lathe, one I bought for $5. that I put a $1 yardsale motor on. I spruced it up and sold it for $40., so I made out pretty good on the big Delta. Anyhow, I have other machinery sitting idle in there that needs to be organized and set up, so it's going to be a fun day. Tomorrow is doing what my wife wants to do, yardsales, etc., and then work on some hunters. Sunday is squirrel hunting with the .17HMR and more shop time in shop #1.

I'll be heading to Blade West in an hour or so. First time I've done a pure knife show and slept in my own bed. I've got my fingers crossed that this show works out since I'd like to see it stay in Portland. Sure haven't seen any local advertizement and I'm starting to wonder if that was something that was over looked. I'll give it my best shot......

Hey John , If you find a little giant under the rubble. I got dibs :)
Mark, I sure will! Actually, a while back my father in law was telling me he knows of some down there in central MO, near where he lives. They are supposed to be in the boonies and are idle. I should get on the stick and call him this afternoon. All he said was that they were old trip hammer machines that are sitting around like junk.

Just got home from school. On my way out the door for work. Later tonight I might go shootin with some friends, or might work in the shop. Have to work tommorrow and sunday too. And somewhere in there I've got to get my horse ready for a show next week. Gonna be a busy weekend.
Have a good one everybody :D

While I am thinking of it, I will post the results of my father in law's info on the trip hammers for you anvil pounders, after I talk to him. I would like to see someone get some use of them.

Going to go on a nice 4 wheeler ride with the family in the morning then ive got 5 knives that are just Heat Treated and Bead Blasted last night.....Time to do some handle work. Might even do a little preparing for next weeks elk Hunt. Time to pull out all the cold weather gear and 30-06 shells.

Good luck at Blade West Raymond.

Shane

Amazing how messy the shop gets in 2 months without working.... gonna spend the afternoon cleaning, may fire up again, but getting my hammer wired is my first priority after getting the shop clean. Gonna spend tomorrow in the shop as well, who knows, may even get something done....

Tony

Got my mill delivered today. Just got to get it wired and I'll start throwing metal all over the place. Then I'll get back to making knives.

John I'm grinning all over remembering what your shop #1 looks like. Gents, John has a treasure trove of a shop, you would not believe all the great stuff he's accumulated. John is one of those special guys who can find diamonds in dung, and has a personality that makes people want to give him stuff. And he's the most generous man I've ever met. One visit to his shop for a couple of hours one Saturday and my truck was so loaded down on the trip home I wondered if I'd make it! :D John, we are lucky to have you and it's great to see you in the forum again. I've gotta get over to see your new shop too, with nice weather I might be able to pry myself outta the house one day to come over. Get the coffee pot on!

Just finished the knife you see below. We are expanding the shop so I have to hook up the propane lines today and start prepping the floor that will be poured soon.

Digging and tamping the damned thing to get it flat and solid! Going out for Sushi later!

Just paying bills and messing around with my daughter. Have to get some riding in and preping for the show in Atlanta next weekend. :D

Yup today is Satiddy, and I missed the Friday thingy. No biggie. I'm oyt bbq-ing and drinking some massive amounts of Colorado mountain Rockies you know...

Made an absolutely HUGE damascaus billet yesterday. Its gonna be suh-weeyt!

*burp* :p
