Bro, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. That totally sucks! Hopefully after 25 years they at least gave you a golden parachute, but in today's cutthroat corp environment that's unlikely.

Friend, if you held that job for all those years you HAVE to be good.We've all been kicked in the crotch at times. This happened to me once when my spirits were lower than whale poop & my dismissal sent me even lower . Boss said " Alan , you're too good to be working for me so I'm letting you go".
Just like that ! Boom ! Applied for workmen's comp but before the first check arrived I was working again. This was 1965 but the following year I CLEARED $36,000. Cars were less than 3 grand then .

Being fired, or downsized, by inferior people sucks. I've been there, but was able to give the old "bafamool" to my previous employer in order to start a business.

Been there done that. Hang in there and don't forget unemployment insurance. I pray that things get better.
