Friday

Gotta work today. Picking up some more propane on the way home, and hoping to get some knives finished this weekend. Also going on a family trail ride sometime this weekend.
Have a good one everybody :D

trying to get caught up on bills and then everything else..... looks like another long couple of days

I'm heading up north this weekend. My folks are getting ready to move so I have to pick up some hand-me down toys, new ski-doo ,big red three wheeler another forge, anvil and swedge block , an outboard motor a generator and lots more toys.Have a safe weekend

As soon as five hits I'll be in knifemode. Got a lot of blades to catch up on and finish.

You guys have a safe one and if you're sweating in a hot shop, take higgy's advice and drink lots of water -- or buy an a/c unit. :D

Going to be humid tropical weather <again> this weekend. Will probably spend all weekend in the shop. I'm getting pissy because none of the vendors I have ordered stuff from are coming through with it. I hate it when you order something and they drag their feet for a week before it even gets shipped, then they slow-boat-to-china it to you. Hehe, there's my Friday mini-rant. Like it? :p

You guys take care, hey?

Supposed to get crummy hot and humid here, too... with thunderstorms, no less. At least the temps have dropped during the night so sleep is possible.

Taking the truck in for it's routine tranny service, then seeing if I can't find a good deal on a new diesel while I'm there.

blacksmith meeting sat.

sunday up to KS, Dad is dying of cancer. I may be up there awhile. He's 69 cancer from chemicals, don't breathe all that crap guys.

Sweany, Sorry to hear about your dad. Seems anymore if your past a certain age you have one form of cancer or another. My wife is down south with her mother who's in her last few days with cancer except she's 88. I've been trying to get some yardwork done and just started picking up and straightening the steel roofing and siding somewhat so it will stack up alittle better so I can get rid of it. I think today will be my first real scavenger hunt. Up untill now I've just been scouting.

I am at work...

Tonight I have a good 6 hours to work in the shop (gf going out!)...I am finishing a blade as much as I can. I have some crazy ringed Gidgee that I am going to use on the "cool hamon" blade I posted here yesterday. I haven't decided yet if i want bolsters, if so, if they are going to be shaped or straight, or if i am going to put the main focus on the wood and make fullt sculpted one piece scales with an integral guard built into the scales. This stuff is hard!

I also have 4 sets of some amazing burl that is tempting me....one of those sets or the gidgee is going on tonight. Im leaning towards one piece scales because i loved how my last one came out, but a curving bolster with the rear edge matching the exact flow of the hamon (going to trace it) seems like such a tempting idea.....just absurdly time consuming to match a curving angle like that (for me, at least)...

Going to the Ballgame tonight and fireworks afterward.
Hope to work on that tease I put in earlier. I'm also going to start one for Ray and get it to the auction.

Larry

Sweany , my prayers to your Father and family.

Well I was hoping to work on a folder kit tonight and this weekend but it still hasnt arrived in the mail yet.... Starting to get irritated ,anyways.

I got my first ever Desert Ironwood in the mail , got it for a very low price , like $13 for enough to make at least 4 sets of scales so maybe I'll see what I can come up with , or perhaps I'll just lay it in front of me and gloat over it like a miserly old man...
