I thought I'd show a comparison photo of a couple of Buck 914's along side the Marbles version. The Marbles is a newer version, but you can see where the inspiration came from.

Very nice photo Dave. I'm just not a fan of that odd looking Marbles blade style. However, when I saw a custom with stag handle, I pulled the trigger. It's different for sure and came with a custom stand that i wanted more than the knife.

Dave, What was the blade length of these and what steel were they offered with? Thank, DM

All three are 4 7/16" measured from the guard to the tip. The Cabela's leather handled one I understand was made in the late 80's or early 90's so I assume it's 420HC and I assume the same for the DU model. I have no idea about the Marbles.

Very nice knives! I have always liked this design myself. Here is one I did with Green Lucite with Brass spacers.

That's a beauty. What number is stamped on the back of the sheath it came with? Mine is stamped 191 but it's a perfect fit.

I think it was 191 as well but I no longer have the knife. I think I have another so I will take a look at that one.

Plumber, With a late 80's --early 90's mfg. the steel could have been 425M. DM

They all look to be flat grind. Whats the blade thickness? Thanks, DM
