What does the traditional section know about Hartkopf knives?

After heming and hawing for about three weeks I finally went back to the store to pick this up.

The thing that is interesting to me is it has a lock in order to close the blade you have to press down on on the cap lifter. It's just neat!

Good quality knives, I've not seen that model before

Don't know much about Hartkopf as a brand, but that looks like a cool knife! What is the size and what is the handle material? I like the fact that its got a cap lifter that is also part of a locking mechanism. Interesting design.

I don't know what the handle material is but based on the perfection of the fit to the bolsters and shield I'm sure it's man made..

I'll take some measurements tomorrow when I'm at work since I don't keep a tape handy and eve if I did it'd metric I will say this though it's slightly bigger than my 47

I've looked at a few in a shop in Graz a few years ago, didn't buy any though. I don't have any Hartkopf knives. From what I've heard and seen, they seem to be of good quality. Do they make their own cutlery or is it being made by another company?

Solingen cutlery has a big reputation here in Slovenia, still from the good olden days. Looking at all the companies that have gone out of business (even some family friends of ours used to have one), what's made in China now and what is still produced in Germany, the name doesn't seem all that deserved today. There're still good companies like Böker and some others. I was very disapointed by Carl Schlieper though. I'm convinced a chinese made Kissing Crane or something of the sort would outrang the two Eye Brand knives I bought last year.

I carry one as a dress knife. I'm a big fan, though mine is a single joint in ebony.

I've seen a few Hartkopf knives posted here awhile back. They are a bit unknown in the U.S., I don't think there is a distributor for them here. I believe I recall seeing some examples of a hunter style lockbox, akin to the Buck 110.

That's a beauty, Chris. I have several knives with the same type of "trick lock" and they work great.
I believe yours is trapper sized, around 4¼" closed length.
