I was at a birthday party for my friend Stacey on Saturday night. W wer in the present opening segment and I noticed she was having some trouble opening a couple small packages. As I normally do(whether they do or not:p), I suggested she needs a knife. She agreed, and I handed her my 110. Before I could get the words "be careful its very sharp" out of my mouth she made and overly agressive sweep at some tape that I thought came near to her other hand holding the package. I said she'd cut herself if she didnt watch out. She said "too late"

Needless to say she has lost knife priveledges...I dont think thats a problem with her:eek:

wow love a gal that uses a 110!
even if they are learning..
many of us have been bit by our bucks...
let her keep using it i say!!!

Many people are not used to sharp knives and lack caution. Since they are used to applying muscle in a cutting job.....they tend to exert too much pressure and lose control.

Some have never even seen a sharp knife and don't comprehend the concept.

Best to just open their packages for them and not risk letting them handle a knife.

My Wife did the same thing last night. Then tried to blame it on me for having sharp knives! You would think she would have learned after all these years!

Some people don't get it though.

Mine asked me to sharpen the Henkels she has as kitchen cutlery. So I did. I said "these are pretty sharp, so be careful" and within 5 minutes I hear that shrill scream that let me know she HAD not been careful. And as Steve said...it was my fault for sharpening the knives to much.

Old habits are hard to break.

I don't sharpen the kitchen knives as sharp as I used to.

Thats a very nice way to put it but as it turns out she is just exceptionally blonde.:D

me neither. And when I sharpen them I post a note on the knife block to warn my fair lady.

Good plan.

My wife has been cut a couple of times and I do make sure to warn her.

For me, cooking is a lot more pleasant with really sharp knives, but a lot of people used dull knives for many years and are accustomed to doing it that way.

I think it takes a few years to unlearn old habits.

well i still say let then use a sharp knife and they will learn!
after all .... we did .. right?
it is not a sex thing..
my daughter knows how to use a sharp knife..
did not get as many nicks as i did learning!
