Friendship and knives

Early this week I received a email from Elliott (BLUES) letting me know I should be on the lookout for a package being delivered via the US Post.
Needless to say, when the package arrived and I opened it I was blown away by his gift to me. Inside the box , carefully wrapped, were 5 vintage slipjoints. These knives are great knives on their own merits and from Elliott's previous posts I know just how much he treasured each and every one of them. To carefully , with much thought, select these knives and gift them to me, still has me in a state of disbelief and shock. It is my wish that I am as worthy of an custodian of these pieces of our history as Elliott has been. Thank you Elliott!

Here are a few pictures of the knives,

Doesn't surprise me. Elliott is good people. Ken, you are a great guy too. Thanks for always taking the time to answer my questions. I am finally in a position to start working on something out of the box for me. I had Elliot and Gus on my mind last week and have not heard from them in a while. I felt compelled to reach out to them just to say hello and chat. Got to call my buddy Greg today. Knife people are the best.

Very incredible! Those knives are spectacular.
Do you happen to have any shots of the blades open? I'd like to see what that Remington looks like. ;)

Christmas comes early, what a wonderful gift. There are not enough words to describe the the class of the folks who hang around here.

Incredible. Well it would be anywhere else. You are a King among men Elliott (but you can't have that for a strapline! ;) ). Those knives are beautiful and I'm sure they're in very good hands Ken :)

Holy Moley!
Elliott was famous for those knives, posting them whenever an example was needed, etc.
Nice old examples, and very obviously, a heartfelt gift to a dear friend.

Elliott knows that you like to study those oldies Ken, for the authenticity you inject into your customs. They must be a welcome addition to your reference library!

Nice going Elliott! You are a real Mensch!*

Very much so! I had touched on this with my phone conversation with Elliott after receiving the knives.

Hard to pick a favorite but I find it hard to put that Winchester down! I have a weakness for single spring, catch-bit knives;)

Ken, it is truly my pleasure. While it's true that all of those knives have meant a great deal to me since I acquired them, their meaning has only been enhanced by my sending them to you.

You have become, over the years, truly like a brother to me and this is just a small token of appreciation of that friendship and what it means to me.

Life's too short not to take a moment to find a way to share some of its pleasures.

Hey, I'd like to see some images of those knives opened as well. I mean, it's not like you have anything else you need to be doing. :p

Wow oh wow oh wow...fantastic! And that they were a gift too! Beautiful knives gentlemen, thank you for sharing the pictures, and Elliott, that is an awesome gesture.

This forum never ceases to amaze and impress me with the generosity of the members and their willingness to share their knowledge of knives. I can't tell you how happy I've been to find this forum and be a tiny little part of it.

Griff

P.S. That Winchester really caught my eye too, look at the way the blades fit together in the handle. My hat is off to the cutler who made it, and the craftsmen who made all the others as well.

What could I possibly add to this that others havent already stated!,

Elliot-that is truly fantastic of you, some fantastic oldies there ( the knives arent bad either ) :D

Congrats to you Ken for that, and thank you for showing us you lovely new knives. Eliiot, that was amazing, a amazingly generous thing to do.

Some real fine examples of the art form!! Thanks to both of you for sharing so freely of yourselves

I can see myself in the post office on the 23rd mailing something out next day! LOL;)

Be careful Ken, the post office doesn't guarantee next day service; they only charge a bunch for 1-2 day service and the 23rd is Sunday.. You might need to move that up to Friday the 21st to make it on the 24th. I've been worrying about that as well.

As for the knives Elliott sent you, I think you have some real treasures there. I love the photos. No doubt the knives are much better even.
