I bit the bullet and bought one of Rob Frinks Grinders. It arrived yesterday as he promised, exactly the way and when he promised. It is just about 100% steel and weights aver 100 pounds. Now if the belts were here and the motor was here I'd have some type of report.

DC motors and controlers are a whole nother subject along with my inability to buy (win an accution) of any type of motor on ebay. I did manage to get a Leeson controler however, and it might be time to buy a new motor. Wolters ignores emails, so I guess it is time to call. Any advice would be appreciated. There appears to be some DC controlers on ebay right now.

Waiting on belts from Pop's. Without this website I would have never heard of Frink, or Pop's. Thanks to all who have posted on the various above topics. I read each an every word I could find in the arcives.

So any further advice that I don't even know I need would be appreciated. When it is all up and running I will give a report.

I would whatch wolters I got a lesson motor and variable speed control.they sent me the wrong stuff,so I had to ship it back more money out of my pocket, and they got the motor
and I called to see if the were going to credit my credit card and they said they would, but there was a 75 dollars restocking fee so there I had over a 100 dollars sunk into it and it was there mistack.
just thought I would let you know how they did business.

You can get a motor at a very reasonable cost through Surplus Center (actually they are probably one of the cheapest places to buy them) they don't have a web site that I know of but you can call them and get a free catalog, there number is,
1-800-488-3407
They have a 1 1/4 hoarse variable speed motor for $129.50 plus shipping...The item number is 10-1485-A
Alex Daniels uses these motors and this is what he told me to get,He said that he has been using one for about 10 years now with no problems. They are a very great company to deal with also.
Hope this helps you out some.

Thanks for the tips. Without doing a search doesn't Jeff ??? or other work for Wolters. Leeson does have a great web site with manuals available so I might just buy a surplus motor. I think just about any 180v 1.5-2.0hp motor will work with the controler I have.

It is frustrating to have a grinder sitting there with no belts and no motor. It is worse than Christmas eve.

I just wanted to say congratulations on the smart move. I always tell people to buy quality tools if you can afford them because they will be what you want from the start to finish.

I would really like to get one of Rob's grinders to put next to my Burr King, but I think before that I should have him help me get my surface grinder set up for belts.

I've seen some of Rob's work firsthand and it was top-notch, as is everything I've heard about his work.

Let us know how everything goes when you can make some sparks

Waiting on belts, (poor planning on my part), got a control for a DC motor off Ebay for about 1/4 of list price. Still looking for a motor cheap. Figured I've gone this long without a decent grinder, I'll try to do it right (as cheaply) as I can.
