George Tichbourne, a great knifemaker himself, has said that Fritz Clauer's fighters are something special. Mr. Clauer is a knifemaker out of Peterborough Ontario, Canada. Has anyone seen, used, or owned one of Mr. Clauer's knives? Comments or pictures would be appreciated.

Howard,

Fritz 's work is solid. Clean grindlines, precice fit and finish. I have seen and handled his work in TO twice.
Classical styles.

There was a picture in TK, think October - December 2000 issue, not to sure which one, of a fighter.

He was at the last Guild show in TO, won Best Utility.

Mr. Clauer just moved out to British Columbia and hasn't yet set up his shop or changed his entry on the CKG site, for those who are interested.

I think he said he's living in or near Victoria. His number I think is now 250 751 2611. If I got that wrong, call the number shown on the CKG site and Bell will give you the new one.
Unfortunately, he says he has only one small knife on hand right now that is spoken for by someone in Chicago. He thinks it will take a few weeks at least before he sets up to make more because he just moved two weeks ago from Ontario. But by all means give him a call. If the sale to Chicago falls through, that knife may come up and he probably is taking orders.
Plus, if you add your voice to mine to encourage him to get a computer, maybe we'll see some pictures soon

Thanks for the contact info hjk. There is a pic of his stag fighter(SWEET) on page 111 in feb 2001 Blade magazine. We better get our orders in before Les gets his hands on him.

Only seen Mr. Clauer's work in magazines. His fighters are very impressive looking. The ones I've seen tend to be with clip points along the line of small bowies.

I just got off the phone with Mr. Clauer and he is not taking orders at the moment as he does not know when he will have his shop set-up from the move. Might be up to a year

. Really nice guy to talk to and will definitely keep him on my list of knives to get.
