My wife gifted the Native lw to me for Christmas and I was lucky enough to pick up the Manix 2 lw yesterday.

Absolutely love them both. Love vs strong like! These two knives slip into the pocket and un-noticeably like a Delica. Its what I love best about the knives. Grippy easy to clean. I havn't had a chance to test out the Manix yet but the Native has seen quite a bit of drywall scoring and so far the DLC is holding up great!

I totally hate to say it but there's truth into NutnFancy's whole hang up with 3 ounces. I've found that I actually do prefer edc's that are under 3 ounces. I've always thought of the Delica as the perfect EDC, the Native is close for my uses and the Manix 2lw falls into that perfect EDC category as well. Unbelievable how much blade Spyderco stuffed into this package yet still be so lightweight!

I don't mind heavy knives, but I usually don't want to pay for or deal with unnecessary weight. My Pacific Salt is big enough for pretty much everything, but I can happily toss it in the pocket of pajama pants or IWB with athletic shorts and never notice it's there. I understand the aesthetic complaints about FRN (looks cheap, feels cheesy, whatever) but for actual, practical use there aren't many materials that are clearly superior. It keeps cost down, weight down, it's plenty grippy without tearing up hands or pockets, it's easily strong enough, I just like the stuff.

I may be in the minority, but I pretty much want an FRN lightweight version of every Spydie to be available. Sal hinted at an FRN Chaparral and I honestly think that could be an absolute allstar small EDC knife.

Couldn't agree more. I never go anywhere without my Delica 4 Gray FFG or my Endura 4 Gray FFG. The Endura is a little heavier than the Manix LW, but 3.4oz for a 3.75" blade is still amazing.

I hadn't heard this. I don't pre-order knives often, but I would preorder this one.

On a related note, demoncase said in his rundown of the Amsterdam meet that there is likely to be an FRN lightweight version of the new PM3 (or mini-PM if you prefer).

I originally thought I only wanted light weight knives. So a bought a few models with FRN and I think they're great. I love Spyderco's bidirectional texturing and how grippy it feels. Then I bought a couple G10 models and actually don't mind the added weight and appreciate the feel and appearance of G10. Now I have several models in FRN and several non-FRN knives and love them all. They all see pocket time depending on where I'm going and what I feel like carrying that day.

i really don't mind carrying ether G10 or FRN modal's!but i own one of the 1st natives and i carry this knife more then any other probably because its light weight and its grip in my hand!best of all i never notice its in my pocket, but say i'm going back packing or to the woods i'll bring a PM2 or my gayle bradley 1)!so it really depends on what i'm doing that day.;)

I prefer lightweight knives. About the heaviest I will go these days is a Caly 3.5 or a Para 2. Most of the time I stick with a Delica, Naive 5 Lightweight or Salt 1, all well under 3 ounces. My "big" folder is an Endura.

It depends on the pants... I do not mind a heavier knife like a GB1 or even a Tuff while wearing jeans during the day, but I quickly switch to a light weight knife when I change into light clothes at home. Normally a Stretch or Manix 2 LW or Native 5 LW. Heavy or light, variety is good, it keeps me from getting bored.

I cracked a joke about it on the forum and Mr. Glesser popped on and said point blank he wanted to make it. It would be one of the rare knives I bought two of. One for me and one for my father. Right now he has a Dragonfly, but we both find the Dragonfly just a bit too small for any tough cutting tasks. The Chappy is just the right size, but I feel an obscure guilt about really putting the CF one through its paces. Just a bit too handsome for me to really crank on it.

That would be a must purchase an frn pm3. Although boker literally just launched their pm3 today so I don't know who would get to use that name?

I normally word not buy a redundant 3rd knife but that would be a must get lol. I just like the lw models that much!

All of them - ignore the PM2, lol.

I want a Native now. FRN and back lock is my favorite combo.

I actually prefer frn to g10 when I'm hiking/ active because I have had g10 scaled knives slip out of my pocket without notice. Frn really grips your shorts well

Pretty much read my mind right there, Insipid. How something feels is a subjective thing, a very important one...but can anyone really say or prove that FRN and FRCP don't perform? I know I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary. I too say: Bring on the lightweights!!!

Bring on the lightweight! After reading this thread while drinking last night, I ordered up a manix s110v lightweight. Lol

^ I fell in love with the manix 2 lw s110v almost instantly - unbelievable sharpness from just a strop.
