Did Spyderco ever make a FFG Native in FRN? I just got a FRN Native in S30V, but I can't stand the grind. Am I the only on who would like to see a Native built like the FFG Enduras? Full flat grind, lava grip, torx screw construction, and the 3 screw style pocket clip. I think it would be my perfect edc Spydie.

There was a purple FRN forum knife with a FFG blade a few years ago. I'm with you on the grind, I prefer the blade and handle shape on my Native V but don't like the weight. Waiting on the FRN version.

Hi MDSmith,

We just finished the mold for the FRCP scales for the liteweight Native, Full flat grind.

Sal, will that be a full flat grind like the 2009 Forum Native, or full flat grind with a spine bevel like the Native IV & V?

Hi Paul,

We're planning the same as the Native 5, but you have seen variations from us in the past, especially when knowledgable folks have desires.

As long as it keeps the price point and high edge retention steel of the current S30V Native lightweight, I'll buy one.

Sal will the older hollow ground Natives still be produced. I really like the geometry on that knife in particular. I found it to be one of the best hollow ground blades that I've used, combined with the S30V heat treat on my model. I'd like to be able to purchase a couple more if they will be discontinued. All in all, as good as the Native 5 is, the older models are still an incredible piece for a great price. Lots of cutting power and a comfortable handle in one small package.

Anymore news or pictures available? I have owned The Native 5 and the regular native. I always wanted a Native 5 made with FRN as I prefer FRN to any other scale with a medium-to-small knife. Also will this have a wire clip? I would absolutely love that. I am currently looking for my ultimate small edc knife to compliment my Military and was about to pull the trigger on the Dragonfly II but I would wait for a FRN Native FFG.

BTW Sal, thank you for everything. After discovering the Military, I sold every knife I owned (34+, including customs and Sebenzas) as I only want this knife and the aforementioned FRN Native FFG for the rest of my life.

I would really love to see a FFG Native 5 in FRCP, with a wireclip and sporting CTS XHP. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

What is the difference between FRN and FRCP? I know what FRN is, but what is FRCP?
Does anyone know if the blade on the new Native will come in at 75 mm or will it be a full 3"?

FRCP = Fiberglass Reinforced Co-Polymer. Instead of nylon (used in the FRN) a different plastic is used.

The most obvious is that translucent handles are possible with FRCP. Based purely on personal obervation, the FRCP handle of the Manix 2 Lightweight also seems stiffer than any unlined FRN handle I own. The only question in my mind is whether it's one of those "two edged sword" deals, where you're gaining rigidity but sacrificing damage resistance. As for blade length, I have no idea, but I can't see .05" being all that big a deal from a usability standpoint so if making it 75mm would make it legal in more places I can't see any reason not to.
