FRN scale broken

I have a Saver Salt which has served as a fantastic work knife for the past couple years. Recently I noticed the pocket clip will rotate fairly freely due to some broken material of the scale which forms the retaining rectangle about the pocket clip. Any idea how readily available replacement scales are and the best place to find them? Or would this be more of a spyderco "factory" issue?

Sheer curiousity......broke from regular wear and tear...exposure to regular uv and chemicals, etc....or standard light impact.....manufacturing defect type thing? Any theories on what might have caused the frn to break.

No theories, rides in my pocket all day every day at work (EMS). Never had an issue with my much older and more well used/abused S30V Native which I believe uses the same style clip set up.

The clip pockets of the models that use the barrel bolt clip do tend to get chewed up over time. especially if the screw is not really tight and kept that way with thread locker. The handle is one piece, so replacing a scale is not feasible. One fix is to soften the displaced FRN with a soldering iron and prod it back into place. This should be done with the clip firmly screwed in the desired position. Chances of success will vary greatly from person to person and, as with many things, patience and a gentle touch will often yield better results that brute force. The results won't win any beauty contest, but at least the clip will stay put.

Spyderco advised that I should send it in for repair and/or warranty (TBD), guess that kinda settles that... Biggest problem now is what to carry while its gone. The serrated is a must, so I suppose that limits me to my E4SE, although it looks a a bit mean to actually take out at work. Maybe my tenacious or D4? Or blue scaled E4 FFG PE? Ah the choices!! Could do the Salt 1 PE as I have been meaning to see how the H1 does with a plain edge- but a little small and no serrations. Knew I should have picked up an atlantic salt or 93mm rescue earlier.
