Frog Lube on INFI?

Ok....I am new to the forum, had an experience with my first BUSSE and was about to get rid of it and walk away. Needless to say, Jerry Busse cleared that matter up and fixed it by going above and beyond. Now....I apologize for my previous rants and am moving on to a new chapter with a strong love for INFI. This strong love for INFI, as I know most of you share, has driven me to new methods of protection for my precious metal. I have a few firearms and am very meticulous when cleaning and storing them. Over the years I have experimented with various lubricants and protective oils. A couple years ago I was introduced to Frog Lube and have used it vigorously on all of my firearms. Most of my knives prior to owning BUSSE and SwampRat blades were stainless so I never really kept a coating of oil or something on them. Now that I have INFI and love it dearly I have been coating it with Frog Lube. Do any of you do the same? If not, what do you use? I prefer to stay away from petroleum based products now that I have seen first hand what Frog Lube does on a firearm. So.....share if you'd like.

I've used Frog Lube, Seal Skinz, Get Some, Rem Oil, all satisfactory. I once had Rand CLP on an uncoated Swamp Rat in a kydex sheath and it got a little wet (not submerged). I let the sheath air out overnight and thought it would be fine and didn't come back to it for a few days. It stained the holy hell out of the steel. Not sure what to think, but I don't use that anymore.

I use INFI (coated or uncoated), clean it, dry it and put it away, and I have had no problems with rust. INFI is not stainless, but it is pretty close; given extreme exposure it will rust, but not like many carbon steels. Years ago I bought a used SHSHII that I was told was left outside in a shelter, and it had some minor rust on the uncoated steel which cleaned off easily with no deep pitting of the steel.

I have heard that the SR-101 steel used by Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard will rust easier than INFI, but I have no significant experience with it.

I like eezox. I think it even smells good. Maybe that's a little weird...

It has worked great for me so far. Not a dot of rust despite slogging around in the swamps at my farm with my brother.

I work with saltwater for a living and I live near the coast. EVERYTHING rusts around me. I have to buy new tools every couple of months. You should see my truck! That being said, I haven't had any problems with INFI. I use mineral oil when storing ANY steel for a length of time. Just started using Tuff cloth.

SR101 is a different story.

Yea...the smell of Frog Lube is very pleasant. Tastes good too....just like it smells. Another reason I stick with FL is the fact that I don't hear my wife complain about nasty smells and if I miss some or just wipe the excess on my pants it isn't harmful to my 2yr old daughter. It doesn't dissipate like oil and when applied correctly to an AR platform rifle the carbon just flies off. Thanks for all the other named products. ....gotta use my google-fu on a couple of those....haven't heard of a few before.

Its wet and rainy here at times for days and INFI is only steel I have used outside of stainless that I don't have to oil it ever.

There was an excellent thread that I ran across somewhere on the forum that compared various oils for corrosion resistance. Guy treated pieces of carbon steel with different brands and sprayed them with saline. That thread got me started on Eezox. I will look for it again with my computer at home. Hard to search with this damn phone.

At times I wish she would complain about Frog Lube over other things. .... one time my wife thought I called her a dumb witch.....so that year for Christmas I bought her a broom with "sit here"and "hold here" stickers on it. Not until then does she say....Ok...I get it....you didn't call me a dumb witch......I couldn't help myself......cracked up the whole time wrapping that broom.
Back to FL....I also was wondering how you guys preserve micarta. ...oil?...saddle soap?...nothing? I've used FL on it and it seems to take well.

I was reading online a few places that it has problems with mold growth on the inner parts of guns it has been used on. Does anyone know anything about this?

Ballistol here as well. Though I have just changed to a mineral oil for all the blades that I use around food. I keep shaving brushes that have been wet with each particular oil and use that to apply an appropriately thin coat of oil to the blade, over oiling just attracts other rubbish to stick to the blade or accumulate in a sheath.

I was at Blade show a few years ago and got turned on to this.View attachment 530348
I also have a collection of vintage axes (all users) and a few of my Busse and kin users that I've used this on exclusively.......zero issues:thumbup:
