Froglube on a knife

Im chillin on the golf coast of Florida and went to an Aron Tippin concert (cool guy, good music) and one of the vendors at the venue was a little company called Froglube, a USA made, supposedly SEAL invented lube and protectent for guns. I got some free samples so i decided to put it to the test as a knife lube. I degreased my full sized Griptilian (154CM) first with dish soap and then boiling water. While the knife was till together and hot i squeezed a liberal amount in between the blade and scale on both sides working the blade as i went. I then put some on the blade making sure it was covered then lightly wiped it off. I then took it to the beach and swam for 2 hours. took it home rinsed and dried it and looked at the blade. The action was the smoothest it has ever been but there where a few rust spots on the blade. I went through the same procedure today but I did not wipe off the blade today. got home and their where again a few rust spots on the blade. So far I think that Froglube is an excellent lubricant and rust stopper in tight moving parts, but not on free standing metal. I don't have my tools or camera with me but when i get home i will disassemble and photo the internals and tell you my final thoughts. Oh and the best part, it makes knives buttery smooth and it smell like mint.
Thanks,
Paul

I use Froglube for everything. Obviously I use it on firearms, but have been using it on my knives as well. Replaced the factory grease stuff on my SpeedSafe knives with it, and put small amounts on bushings etc. Works really really well. Plus like you said, it does have a mint smell so you don't get a nasty chemical scent everywhere.

PS: Also worked really well on my leather sling :p

Did you leave it on for a while before wiping it off? I usually apply while hot and wipe down when everything has cooled down.

Are the rust spots in a different place or could they be the same spots as before?

I did let it cool the first time, but not the second. As far as the rust they are in different spots, though that might not be from the salt water, I rinsed the knife with hot water and was called away for about 5 minutes before I was able to dry and check, so that might be the reason for those today.

I've used it on all my knives since my leo friend suggested it. I just apply it on top of the factory lube already on my knives. They work great. The mint smell goes away after a while.
