Got out for a couple of hours yesterday for a cup of tea and scouting future winter camp sites. I think I'll have to share with the Otters.:D

Nice post man! AND snow just the way I like it, in someone else's photos for a while :)

Thanks. IIRC you were in Mich. for a time, but then moved? Our winter this year has been a poor excuse, but the older I get.... I'll take it! My buddy and I were scouting for a snow house site. I didn't have the heart to tell him we might need to wait til next year.;)

I see their slides and tracks fairly regularly but have yet to see any frolicking around. They seem like they'd be an entertaining animal to watch for awhile.

Lol, yeah we were in Michigan for their record breaking winter of 2013, so I'm good on winter for a bit :)

good stuff! i've never seen so many fungus (bracket fungus?) on one tree before.

Cool. Be careful around the creeks buddy. The local mink holes can get a fresh cover. I've gone one leg deep a couple of times.

Buggers will dive into the snow, bore through, then pop out like they are under water, crazy to watch.

thanks for posting! looks like a cozy fire :) otters rock, one of the neatest animals imho

funny how so many people eschew winter and just hunker down inside, sad because there is so much going on even in the dead of winter. I'm not overly found of below 0 weather, but other than that, I certainly enjoy winter and what it has to offer

Will do! Actually there are several people that won't go out unless I take them. Spent my whole life doing this stuff, and love it.

Indeed. Planned to be camping this weekend, but the forecast(and accurately) of -25 helped me to decide to postpone. There are better weekends in the teens.:D

About the same here buddy. Had either a .22 or fishing rod in hands since about 12. But I still do lazy/stupid things out there now and then. I know better than to walk too near the winter storage branches submerged by beavers. I was being lazy and took a cut across the ice a bit too close and got wet to the crotch a couple three years ago, scared me. Called myself a couple of non endearments, sat down and drained my boot. Heart still pumping like a rabbit, lol.

That'll get yer attention.:D I popped through once as a kid on late ice. Only had to hit my "upper thighs" and I was out! Dumped the boots and wrung out the wool pants and socks , then set to fishin. First and so far last issue. Kinda left a groove in my brain.;)

Unfortunately I was the kid told not to put the Bobby pin in the wall socket. All I remember after that was some yelling and sparks shooting out, lol.
