Dear Mr Glesser and/or other Spyderco heavies

I have been Waving around a leading-brand multi-tool since 2004, together with a simple, compact Nichia LED flashlight. These two items are the totality of my EDC, wrapped up in a nice, discreet leather pouch. It’s by no means the latest or greatest equipment, but it serves my purposes very well, and I’m happy to have it.

The only significant drawback of the multi-tool is the lack of left-hand support when it comes to opening the blades! I can understand that it may be difficult to manufacture ambidextrous multi-tools in their traditional form, but with the advent of ‘skeleton’-type tools it seems like much more of a possibility. It’s a nice concept – a good blade, tough pliers and bit driver. All the essentials.

And this is where I would like to call upon Spyderco. I know for a fact that the said leading-brand manufacturer currently has no plans for making lefty-friendly tools. I also know that a big part of my attraction to Spyderco is the fully-ambidextrous, highly purposeful designs.

So, what do you say? Could it be time to fill an obvious gap? I’d like to hear thoughts from Spyderco.

Regards from South Africa!

Spyderco multi-tool for a lefty, I'd buy 3!!!!!

I'd love to see a Spyderco approach to a standard-format (plier-based) multitool.

I have visions dancing through my head of titanium skeletonized frames with rustproofed tools with FRN/G10 scales to reduce weight and give grip, POCKET CLIPS (one thing that almost all multitools lack), good steel on the blade, and so forth.

One thing that REALLY irks me about the premium Leathermans such as the Charge and Skeletool CX is that the use of titanium and CF is very superficial on them, mostly replacing the scales and not the frame which doesn't increase strength or reduce weight much and only drives up the cost. And on the Charge only the PE and not the SE blade is upgraded. I'd like to see Spyderco do the opposite - and a rustproof version would sell like hotcakes.

Great! Glad to see that I'm not a voice in the wilderness in this instance. Interesting thoughts; thanks.
