Thanks, Vassili.

I femember seeing some rockstead folders at a Blade West show. They appeared to be of good quality and sharper than heck. They also had a sharpening jig that was reallllly expensive.

Very cool! I really like the grinds on that knife. I've never seen that kind of double bevel edge and than again on the swedge/false edge. Excellent. It looks like a high class Strider.

Nice photo's too. #3 is my favorite.

Nice knife, I looked at their website and they have some nice looking folders too. Think I'm gonna call them and get some more info. How long did it take and what price range are their knives in if you don't mind me asking?

I do not have any Roakstead myself. However I bought from Seki Japan knife in less then 2 weeks not so far ago using International money order.

Thanks, Vassili.

Ok, some of their laminated zdp-189 folders and folders using that steel look really nice. Said on their website they harden their proprietary steel to 64rc.

They use laminated ZDP-189 and YXR7 and for this one something special as I understand. This is YSS diagram they sent to me year ago:

As Anton sad - they will have new models pretty soon with bigger blades etc... Prices as I understand quite high even for Japanese knives.

Thanks, Vassili.

Those knives are amazing. Just browsed through the website. I like the three folders, particularly the MANTIS. The tanto looking one. So sharp and so strong. I just emailed them asking for more info think the price range is at least 750. So expensive:mad:

yeah , Years ago I bought some and they are still in storage in Japan. Good blades.

Do you have it? What does it mean in storage in Japan?

I really interested in you opinion how this YXR7 performs. This is some kind of Matrix High Speed Steel they do not even disclose composition.

Also this shell edge - hamaguri-ha - how is it feel?

Thanks, Vassili.

On the Internet mostly - google, bladeforums. It was only Higonokami which I "discover" myself in Yokohama last year and KaBar here at 2002 - which started my obsession with knives.

Thanks, Vassili.

It means I lived in Japan and it is in storage from stuff I left there.

Your blade material and finish is different than mine . My blades (2) is beadblasted and smaller.

I got mine in Ueno (town near Tokyo).
There are some steels that are not disclosed til some other company get hold of it and buys some from the company.

DC53 steel was like that when it first came out.

S/F,
CEYA!
