I wish that I had taken a picture of this knife when I bought it . The blade was horrible looking . It was a black blade that had lost a good bit of black , and then touched up with one of those pens made to touch up gun black . The liner went all the way over and was a bear to unlock . And all of the hardware (clip , screws etc.) were also showing wear .
The rescue process started with a disasemble and complete cleaning . I used GUN-SCRUBBER by Birchwood/Casey . This stuff realy cleans out the gunk in all the hard to reach areas.
Next came removing the black from the blade . The trusty Dremmel made short work with the rubber tips . You have to be carefull here , as you can get a cloudy look if the presure is wrong . After that the polishing wheel/compound treatment realy made the the blade shine . I also polished the liners .
I put it back together and carried it for a day before relizing this was more than a beatdown $200 dollar knife (I paid $20). The liner was now aligned perfectly center on the tang , and the action was very smooth . Soooooo.......
I took it apart again , gave all bearing surfaces a mirror finsh (pivot pin contact surface , blade contact , liner contact points) and also polished all screw heads . Now this thing outshines and is smoother than many newer , less used knives .
All I need now is a SKULL clip , and the shoulder rig and this old warrior will be ready for a new life of urban personal deffense . I would like to find a used clip , to keep with the theme of rescue . I dont think I'll find a used shoulder rig , but I can always hope ....
I wish I could post a pic of it now , I am realy proud of how it looks . (If someone can post them in this thread for me , contact me )
